I think my local Harley Dealer would be a lot more interested in selling me something he has in stock than listening to my brilliant idea about reviving the XR 750. He would likely tell me to buy a new Sporty and bolt on a phillittleracing kit. I'll have to look into adding a street tracker kit to a good used Sporty.

It's called personal choice. Kind of a grown up thing that maybe someday you'll understand.

Until then, if you don't like what other people choose stfu.

Your problem is all too prevalent nowadays. You hold the mistaken belief that others want to know what you think.
sorry you are to dense to understand. Do you have harley pillow cases? It is hard to believe you try to insult me as a reaction to your complete misunderstanding of my stament and dedication to the corporate blatherings of a CEO. Maybe someday you will understand. Maybe not.

my sears lawn tractor has a 24HP briggs and stratton on it and it does sound impressive. I have to resist modifying the muffler! I made the mistake of looking at some youtube videos of the racing versions. They sound great.

I saw a post on anther forum with pics of a Harley Hummer powered by a V-twin Briggs Vanguard with a Comet CVT. I hate to see the originality of a vintage Harley lost, but I bet the straight pipes on that V-twin Briggs sounded a lot better than the original 2 stroke mill.

Harley closed at $64.79 last night, compared to $40.28 when this thread started in Jan 11.

That is a gain of 60.8% not including dividends.

That is all that matters.

Well, I don't think that's ALL that matters, but it does show they're good at their job. Good for them. It's a tough business.

Why a Ducati link in a Harley thread? No, Audi did not buy HD. The German Motorrad magazine does very thorough long-term tests on motorcycles. They ride them for 50,000 km (31,000 mi) and then tear them apart and perform a detailed inspection for wear and tear. This Multistrada did quite well. On the the last page of the report they provide a table showing all the bikes they have tested this way. Looky where the Road King shows up. Who woulda thunk it?

So I had the opportunity to ride a 2013 Street Glide the other day. I am not a cruiser guy, but have ridden a couple of cruisers, a Buell, and a Sportster, but the Street Glide was better than any of them. It was a joy to ride, easy to balance, and the 103 sounded great with OEM pipes.

It wouldn't fit in my garage, and I couldn't afford the $20,000 price, but I have to say it was a fun ride.

One bike is not a great sample size, but interesting none the less.

Not a good look for ktm.

I talked to the MOCO rep at the Seattle MC show a couple of years ago.

I explained to him I had a Sportster, liked the engine but found the rest of the bike wanting, and had a FLT which I simply found to be "too much" for my needs and desires, and ended up on a V-Star 650 classic.

I said that I would like to see the Sportster engine used for scaled down versions of the Roadking or Electra Glide, how about a Sportking or a Sport Glide?

I swear he just had the "deer in the headlights" look.

Its like he couldn't even comprehend the concept of a mid size, full feature Harley.

Instead of trying to do things outside of their niche and inevitably failing once again, why not simply expand on what they do so well, rather than handing it to the metric manufacturers?

Not as small as the sportster but they did make the Dyna Switchback... So you got part of your wish in a smaller but still very capable touring configuration.
