I actually highly recommend spending 1 night at Coco's Corner. Most people just stop in, sign the book, buy a ceveza, and keep riding. We spent a night and even though it was freakishly cold it was worth it. It was interesting to see the flow of travelers, walk around the desert, hang out with the few other travelers who spent the night, see the stars, enjoy the peace and quiet, and of course actually hang with Coco for a night.

Coco

I know what you mean, not many spend the night there. People just want to push on with their ride. I will see if I can spare a night at Coco I am traveling with couple inmate from VFRworld forum and limited time. I will come back with my GS and spend more time there for sure. You nailed right there

a good option for road bikes is a stop in Sta.Rosalillita....a fishing village on the west coast with a great surf break and a little hotel beside the store. It's between Catavina and Jesus Maria and has a sign...it's where the Escalera Nautica project was to be built.

The ride is is beautiful and PAVED real nice...only 10 minutes off the highway. Only thing is there is no food available..a little store with some tuna, crackers, cheetohs, veggies and beer but no restaurant so bring take out with ya....cool little spot off the beaten track but no sand to deal with....tell em Shari from Asuncion sent you.

It's a mystery! Whatever happened to 7 LBS of Cheetos? How many dead bodies were packed away in the piles of dry bags?

Will they get foiled by those damn kids again? Stay tooned!

Now, Da Fool and his sidekick are winding us through their version of Baja....and it's a good one for the folks who have a Baja interest. Good pics, great story, coconut shrimp , and the usual libations.

For those who might want some more intel/support re: Guerrero Negro-Vizcaino-central Baja......Shari is as good a source as you will find.
This adventurous woman hails initially from Canada, but smartened up and married a cool multi-talented Mexican man (Juan).

Between the two of them, they can help out in ways you never imagined (helping lost and broken riders, finding 20 million year old shark's teeth and similar fossils, knowing just about everybody in a 200 mile radius, diving, fishing, lobster burritos/omelettes, language lessons) as well as their range of accommodations.

Just bookmark their place, e-mail them, and get off the usual Cabo-and-back 5-day ride.

You won't find many like her in Baja....a bundle of energy and a wealth of knowledge.

And she can manage the FYFF's attitude with style

right about now he should be with about 20 other FFs.

And if he's really lucky maybe too.

So don't count on anything from him anytime soon.

If you like cold air and cold water Bahia Asuncion won't disappoint, I spent about 45 minutes there years ago, about 30 min too long then headed straight over to a friends house at Punta Chivato, where warm air and water awaited. The SOC side is more beautiful, and nice warm air and water. Now there is a newer hotel there with cheaper rooms, if you have to go. If you go that direction keep on going to Turtle Bay

Soooooo......we last left our heros (such as they were) wandering around Ensenada lookin' fer some place to lay their weary bones..... Oh....and drink....

But 1st...another shot (or two) of the La Bufadora...'cause it's my f'n ride report....

....we thus wended our way through the clogged mess that was La Paz....

On a whim, we decided to try out a place recommended by Shari (that hateful bitch from Bahia Ascuncion...) in our long ago stay....

Hotel California in La Paz....

After some fits and starts, we finally found our hallowed ground....

And, I must say, it was very, very well worth it!!!

This is a place on the main drag with a locked gate....lottsa rooms with an ocean view...and, I must say...what a view!!!

The room....

Jay is getting ready for a bit o' hedonism....

...and, finally, the view....

...but we're getting ahead of ourselves....

Having not yet eaten that day ( a recurring theme..) we decided we needed a repast before we dug into our new digs.

Suggested by managment of our humble abode was this place just a few blocks south....

....and holy crap!!....what a place it was. Yet again, we were fighting the elements and eking out our survival....

Yet, another shitty meal in Baja.....

Shitty view....

Hydration....

What say we start with a salad....

...a nice steak....

..and a nice seafood medly.....

All DELICOUS!!!!!

...and then, of course, dessert....

...a puking chocolate something or other that was freakin' delicious!!!!!

Man, this Fake Adventure thing just SUCKS....Bwa-Ha-Ha-Ha!!!!!!!

But, as this was, after all, a Fake Adventure ride.....we had to get back to our spartan digs and start recording what would be an amazing evening.....

As you might have surmised there are a buttload of "Hotel California's" in Baja....

We went by the supposed "original" in Todos Santos....not very impressive and actually more expensive than our current location....which, BTW, was FREAKIN AWESOME!!!!

Here is a long series of shots to show how we suffered......

Jay gettin' "shots"....

Jay sayin' "hi"...

Turns out our area had a great break with a lot of surfers.....

Fancy sunset shot.....

...and many, many more....

...more to come!!!
