No one is getting ruled out and I'm not the Longest police, all I am saying is if people want to try and break Boris's record, it will have to be done on the route that has been set and ridden for the last 9 years. From Coffs to Merty is about 1550 klms and the Sawtell route has about 200 kms of tar the rest is dirt and some tricky navigation through some of the forests.
Coming from down south, the sun wont be in your eyes after lunch, but you will still have the wildlife. Leaving from Qld I have been told there is a lot of tar.
Have fun those people who are going to ride it this year, where ever you choose to leave from, its not enjoyable, its bloody hot and uncomfortable.
But good fun. the ride originally was suppose to be, ride from the most easterly point (Cape Byron) and ride as much dirt west and see how far you can get chasing the sun across NSW. The route was changed down to Coffs so they could fit more dirt into the route and they have been using that route ever since, it a cracker of a track.

Undecided at the moment.

640 is apart fixing the stuff that broke and looking for stuff that is likely to break, the 525 will get it's head pulled of during the week for a new head gasket, and then I have to decide if I want to keep them or get rid of them and get a TE610...

Thumb Be careful. It's addictive.

Make sure you know your route. I went the wrong way at the blue sign and that cost me a daylight finish. Plan your stuff, you only NEED tools, spares, first aid and enough fuel. (the old addage, "you're not lost if you still have fuel" applies out there.) Best trip I've ever done. The wife hates that it cost me $500 for the trip and the KLR needed a birthday as a follow up to the event...same 5hit different day I guess. I also went through a can of Endura in the week prior. Don't f*uck around in the servo is the best way to save time. Practice if you must. If you can maintain the rage all day like Trev said, you don't have to go too hard to make it to the corner. Mind you there is a lot of tar for the Qld run.
I've just started sorting out my fuel as it will be Sunday on the return and I would like to make it home (Gold Coast) by midnight.
If you feel you can do it then give it a go, the guys there last year were a great bunch and Fenn and Cheryl have a really good set up at the pub.

Hi everyone

Fogo's on to it. Don't worry about what anyone else has done or is doing. It's all about each of us picking our challenge and looking it in the eye.

Go for it! Be kind to the old fat bloke on the Dominator as you roost past!

Has anyone heard any word on how this is going to be policed?

I was out at Tibooburra the week of the Birdsville races & the locals were advising about not doing the ride this year as the ride was going to be heavily policed & targeted!

Having 200 Hwy patrol on route from Sawtell to Merty to catch 2 riders doing 120 kph in a 100 zone don't make much sense to me. Here they are all watching the SPOT and waiting for the riders to come through while they are sitting in the cars in 43 deg heat, the riders are an hour late so Mr Plod is realy sweating it out now, the lead rider happens to back off to adjust the tunes on his Ipod and fall back to the speed limit just as the Fuzz lock on to him with there radar while he is doing the sign posted speed.

What a waste of a day.

Last year Boris warned us all at the start that people jacked up about all the bikes roaring off through Sawtell the year before and he was tipped off that the Fuzz were waiting for us. So he gave us strict instructions that we were all to sit on 60 kph all the way to the forest, which we did.

Look it could happen, and if it does we will all know for the following years. there will be a lot more private PM messages going back and forth, the route will change and maybe the date, there will be no SPOTs to follow or videos afterwards.
Just have to wait and see.

I certainly will not be going for any silly record distance , I will just be going for the ride and the socializing at the corner with Pom & Tom and Fenn & Cheryl and whoever else turns up .

That is ..... IF the weather plays nicely , if there is heavy rain in the lead up or extremely hot conditions predicted for the few days around the 21 st in the area I will possibly reconsider my roughed out plans . Wait and see what pans out is my plan ..... if the ride to the Corner is a non event according to my criteria , I can always go down to the high country for that time instead .
