Well, I drove out this time in the Sprinter hauling bikes, my dog, and Wox. The drive out was quick and painless, much less adventure in the van than any of the above (that would change later).

We arrive Thursday night just as the sun had set and the moon was rising. A surprise guest had also just arrived: N2Moto and Hurley!
We all got to hang out with everyone and get some stories of the ride. There was much speculation about the fate of the Professor.

The next morning, MrDS was already getting ready to leave for a quick (so he thought) ride back to Bend.

Camp dogs waiting for a job to do. Herding motorcycles and drunks is good work if you can get it.

...I don't want to spoil anything and get too far ahead...

Well on with it! I know what happens but want to see the pics!

I get up and head down to Fields for fuel and breakfast. Killurtv meets me there in his truck to go rescue Professor. Little does he know what role that Tundra will play in the next few days.

I borrow Kltv's fuel bladder and fill it and my XR in Fields. We also borrow a gas can from Fields Station since I'm going to meet him and help load Professor' POS in the truck.

Took the easy way back to Hart.

Broken KTM.

So I say goodbye, fill my tank, and start heading west. From here I only have 2 miles of pavement back to Bend on a 200+ mile ride. With no towns in between.

2 track heading to Bacon Camp Road

Crossing Highway 395

2 more gallons of gas

North of Alkali Lake

I'm across Christmas Valley Highway and headed west to Frederick Butte

I get on the back side of Pine Mountain take a pic and text the guys "Back side of Pine and haven't hit reserve!" I'm about 40 miles from home.

I've made it to this point 300+miles later in under 6 hrs.
I race off again and the very next corner you see in the above pic I though my new transmission blew up.
Fortunately for me it didn't.

The master link exploded. No damage. The case is ok!
I usually keep a spare master in my tool kit, but of course it's not there!
I start calling everyone I know but a complete stranger comes to help.

Posted on our local forum www.BendDualSport.com that I was broke and needed help. Erik posted his phone number within minutes and was headed out with truck and trailer!

AND BEER!!!!!!!

We loaded up the old beast and headed back to Bend.
Thanks Erik! I owe you one!

I'm all done but there's a whole another story to this crazy hoodlum weekend!
Carry on

While MrDS was riding home, Wox, N2Moto, and I rode over to the Little Sand Gap, parked the bikes on the dunes, and hiked the rim looking for arrowheads.

We didn't find any but Wox found a dragon's skull

Good hike, amazing views.

On the way back to camp, we all took different lines through the dunes and playa edge. I made it back first and was wondering where everyone else was because I could have sworn that I saw Wox in front of me at one point. He must have stopped?

Oh here he comes.

Sunset chilling...

All of this excitement was happening and I had fallen asleep on the couch with my dog and woke up in a pool of drool to 5 "missed" calls from Mr. DS

The wind had been blowing all day and the sailcar arrived that night. Rigging commenced immediately and the sailing was great. I let Wox have the helm when it was my turn and ended up screaming like a little girl. It's ok, he'll get his ...

Oh, are those clouds forming over the mountains?

Tired from hiking and with a big ride planned for the next day, I went to sleep while they were still sailing.

...gonna try to wait for Wachs or the other guys to come back with some photos before jumping ahead.

In the meantime, here's a preview

I'm stuck working frantically trying to catch up but will put something together tonight. In the meantime, it was great to meet up with N2Moto and everyone else out there.

Saturday was an epic.

Here's Pat scaring the wildlife on a nice and cool, windy Saturday morning - it sure started out great!

Justin took off early enough on friday morning - burly, long ride ahead.

Dog whisperer

Rode the bikes out to the sand gap and went for a little hike, probably a few miles of walking on a beautiful summer-like day in the desert.

Found this and nothing else

Nice time spent with these seemingly mellow cats

Took a $5 soak with the group

Had a little party that night

http://wachs.smugmug.com/Motorcycles...MG_2358-XL.jpg

N2 showed some diesel powered thighs

My brother and Colleen bought this big ol’ tent

Cool in the morning with some sprinkles forecast. N2 graciously offered to swap out his SM wheels so Professor could go for the ride with us.

Took off kinda late but we were having fun immediately. Kurt rallying the road off the playa.

N2Moto

Yeah N2 a mellow cat -
