I just changed my well worked 950SE to 1190 adv r. I sweared to my friends that i never sell my SE. Well sold it and now i regret it. This 1190 adv r is my 3.rd KTM two earlier Ktm bikes worked very well but here in Finland is old phrase : 3rd time tells word of truth. Now i feel like it΄s really happening to me.

New 1190r is priced at $16,899 in the us.... I have a 990s and test rode the 1190r at the rally. My biggest fear was I would like it and would have to have one. I rode both, standard and R, ill keep my 990 to me they are not a replacement.

I'd take the 1190r over a BMW but not to replace my 990.

4 months after putting the 1190 on sale in the UK dealers are giving away over £3,000 (around $5,000) worth of accessories with it to temp people to buy it, that really is ALL you need to know about it.

Either keep your 950/990, or if you really NEED the extra power and all the electrical stuff, I suggest you give it a few months and then take advantage of the give away deals.

That seems odd, but may be some dealers over-stocked themselves. The best/worst I have seen was the Paris dealers that gave €2000 (£1700). I would 'only' get €1500 worth of acc. May be I should buy in the Uk.

It is odd, I'm sure you won't see this going on down the 'tractor' dealer.

I guess the KTM importers are more flexible to dealers (price wise) that buy allot of units in one go. That way they can sell the leftover allot cheaper while making profits of the first sales. I recon they calculate income from services aswell.

I came on my 2008

Test road this 2013 Baha and the 1190 R in the back ground

And the standard, Ron BTW at the controls

There is no doubt that the new generation KTM 1190 is a big step up in performance and handling. The factor now is reliability with the new computer controlled technology.

This is a good question.
Here in Sweden I can buy a brand new KTM 990 Adventure R MY2011 for 14900$.
A new 1190R is 22200$.
I still like the looks of the 990, and I don't like the tire pressure monitors and crap on the new 1190.

In Germany or France, the stock clearance price is €13k, if you check carefully that UK offer for 3k£ of accessories, its actually very close to that, but you can't choose the acc. you want.

For the guys who are contemplating to buy in France (€ 13000 IS a nice price): don't forget that according to French law, all new motorcycles have to be tuned back to a max of 100 HP to be legally sold. That means that you're spending big money on what is basicly a 990 power-wise (though I don't know how easy it is to uncork them afterwards).

True, it is likely that tuneecu will work with the 1190 at some point since it works with the rc8. Then it will just be a matter of flashing the ECU. And if you install an akra on it, the dealer should be able to flash the map for you.
