Tire mounting in San Diego?

Anyone with a changer? Last time I had to go to the dealer, the final bill was $90 for just the change....with the wheels off the bike

I know "support your dealer" and all, but that was crazy.

If nobody has a changer, know of a place that will do it cheaper?

Thanks.

I'm told CycleGear is pretty good. Something like $10 if you buy the tire from them and a bit more if you bring in your own. They've got a couple locations in San Diego.

What kind/size of tires on what kind of rim?
My local shops do it for $10 at one place and $14 at the other....

I do my KLR tires myself, streetbike tires go to the dealer...

Cheers

Lemon Grove Cycle Supply. Chris, he's a local rider you often see at Lyon's Valley Trading Post. He'll be careful with your rim.

phone# (619) 460-1700

One tire, $20, Buy it there, less. $80 if you drop the bike off to do both.

They mount street bike tires? I know they sell them there, but never seen any equipment.

*** Update ***

It was news to me, but a call there confirms they DO mount tires, dirt or street, $15 if you buy them there, $30 if you don't.

I recommend you buy tires from him if you get them changed there.....plus, he has good prices on tires, tell him I sent you, if you go there.

It's usually $15 per tire, off the bike.

Or, call National City Motorcycle....talk to Rob or Mike (owners) and tell them I sent you and you're with San Diego Adventure Riders.

cycle gear

Depends on what tire you want. My local cycle gear does mount & balance for free if the tires are bought there. They might not be able to balance the 12gs rear. Added bonus is the road hazard warranty. 10% of the tire price, free replacement for any road hazard damage. I got a flat on a new tourance with only 100 miles on it. If I hadn't been so cheap (didn't buy the RH) they would have replaced it.

I have a modded HF changer and a Parnes Balancer if you need it. Let me know via PM if you need it.

I just picked up a TKC from Kenny this Saturday for my 950 and his price was very fair. Plus, he's more interesting to talk to than your NOOB sales tootsie you see at every major delaership these days. Just two things, though. Make sure you're not a stoopid moron; there's quite a bit of cackling over them (very entertaining) and be prepared for ambience. The shop has tons. Locals will know what I'm talking about. He's good with rims, too.

I'd like to revive this thread...

I've called around quite a bit, Lemon Grove seems to be the best option right now at $25 per tire for mount and balance (wheels off the bike). Worst was some Harley shop in Hillcrest at $60 per tire (figured I'd at least check).

The OB shop was $30 per, but the kid said they only use Dyanbeads to balance

Interesting to see how the prices have changed over the past 7ish years.

Any better options?

FTP is great, if i lived close by I'd still go there.

Vey's in Lemon Grove gets my money now though, sometimes they've had it done in under an hour. $15 off the bike, on the bike - $25/30 f/r.
