Laugh How to install REAL horns in a 990 Adventure

Youp!!!

Thatīs right. I am tired of that Hello Kitty standard horn that my ADV has. Hella twin horns are not enough for what I need. I need a horn that can move a car away from my way, and better if the driver gets scared or alarmed. If I see a dumbass using his/her phone, I can drive aside her/him and horn until s/he gets thatīs a stupid habit, and pretty dangerous. I need to awake the first one in the traffic light that is texting SMS with his/her phone. I need AIR horns. Illegal, noisy, and hard to install (because of the space needed).

But a couple of friends and I resolved it. Installed the air compressor near the standard horn place and wired via a Relay for security. The horns were allocated in the hollow space in front of each tank, in the same cover as the turn lights are.

The relay has to be a positive switch. A long hose is needed to do the installation and thatīs it. It should be hosed with unions so you donīt have to disassemble both sides to disconnect air hoses.

Enjoy, as I enjoy horning people, wah ha ha ha!

Squeezed both compressor and a slightly smaller horn (only had one, was from a kit with a set of 3 horns but 2 had been used for other application but pump and smallest horn were leftovers).

I hear your need for a louder horn

i barley ride on the street but I new the horn needed an upgrade and sure as shiot it saved a car from merging on Me

the driver was not totally inept and had signaled but was to close for me to let in specially since I had vehicles on my six I was not going to brake to let them in

I went with
this

I would have liked to fit the same one I have on my truck behind the grille and on my radar arch on my boat

Have started to tear the new bike apart =)

Will put some of the used parts I have laying around on it and keep some new stuff and see if I can sell it of for good money or the shiny new parts can collect dust as spare parts for a while until something breaks:

http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=910398

Think I will leave the horn on the old bike tho since it will be set up for street so might serve me better there for now, will have to do some nicer wiring on the electric on the new bike then the hackjob I did on the old machine.

Cheers!

/Johan

Cry I wish I have room for these ones...

In Colombia, third world country (I think itīs fourth world country) We need to horn a lot because people arenīt aware of mirrors and lanes.

Itīs very common to see people driving with the wheels touching the lines between lanes, as if they wanted to change, but they are just driving. So we need mind reading superpower or horn their asses to correct their way.
