Just ordered

Just ordered
So now to mount them. I have some questions and could use the advice

Right now I have PIAA 520's on a separate relay and switch independent of the headlights that I normally run day and night, yes I do get flashed sometimes, but hey isn't that the purpose of them to get noticed?
So has anyone run these Teslas as DRL's are they even more obnoxious than the PIAA 520's ???
I am also mulling the idea of having the PIAA's and the Teslas be exclusive.. that is to mean.. PIAA's always running, when flashing high beams Teslas and high beam turn on and PIAA's turn off. to give a more flashing effect? How could I wire up a circuit, relays etc to turn off the PIAA's when I flash my high beams? I know how to trigger a relay to turn on a separate circuit with another circuit's signal, but not how to turn it off with another circuit's signal? Is this possible kind of a reverse relay? Does this make sense?
Thanks in advance!

Hey Manuel,

your order went out today.

I ran the lights on my VStrom as DRL's pretty much every single day, but I also live in NYC, where it never gets dark, and thus, people are accustomed to lots of light on the road whenever. That said, even in this overpopulated city, they got noticed, made a significant difference.

They are going to be brighter than your Piaa's. Would you call that obnoxious? Hehe, I wouldn't.

I think what you're looking at is running a system with 2 relays. Picture a normal install, with an auxiliary switch triggering power through a relay to the lights. This would allow you to determine if you want either of the sets of lights on, or both off.

Now, a standard relay will have a "Normally Closed" loop, and this is the side you want running to the Piaas so that power flows through both relays when you flip your aux switch. On the "Normally Open" side, route a positive line to the Tesla LEDs. (On the Tesla's, the white wires are positive, and black are negative). Run another line to your hi-beam and splice it in for a trigger.

That means using the hi-beam will trigger the relay to switch power from the Piaas to the Teslas, as long as you have the toggle switch on. If it isn't on, the hi-beams won't turn on the LEDs.

Send me a PM or an email if that makes sense to you, or if you want a diagram.

-George

Aww Crap!!

Hello George,
While in the Yukon, my daughter's DR650 fell over and a lens cracked. I don't want to infer low quality.....but.... she was only doing 65mph when she was clipped and the damned Dr650 does bounce!!! The light hit the ground a few times and still works like a damned.
Love the lights!!! Can I just order just a new lens?

No problem, send me a pm or an email with your address.

I'm also getting a new shipment in that will include handlebar mounted switches. Stay tuned :)

If you let me know the diameter you're looking for, I can point you in the right direction, but I don't stock them (too many different sizes to make sense). The "universal" or variable ones I've come across wouldn't fit the bill for most adventure bikes.

Actually, since you mentioned it... YES!

I have a small lot of kits with the following configuration:

2 x lights,
2 x weatherpack connectors
2 x bar mounts
1 handlebar switch (caveat on this is that it has to go on from the end of the bar)

For a limited time, I will send out this set to ADV members for $160 shipped.
PM me for details, pictures below:

Hope you're all well!

BTW, bonus shot of the lights installed on my new hack:

Hello,

Interested in the 2000Lm one but would only buy if wired dimmer controller, and a plug & play wire harness are available.

Any info on when the harness and dimmer will be available?

Cheers

What about the harness and dimmer?

Apart from the condensation issue that has been reported, has anyone had any other issues with these spots?

Many Thanks for the answers.

The glass lens doesn't handle rocks very well...

GHO100 sent me a replacement lens.

I threw on some 3m clear film to help out.

I've got a piece of 0.080" lexan to cut down if another one gets busted.

Wire harnesses with standard switches are about a week or 2 away. If you want to pre-order one of those kits, just send me an email and let me know with your order.

Hello

Are these the same lights I bought a few months ago? If so I will definitely take another set.

Hopefully the dimmer will look like the one Clearwater Lights spots have. Small and practical. Would need to be waterproof though.
