TWoSuches

Went for a little ride today, and stopped by TWo today. Was there on Sunday but didn't walk around and I only snapped a pic or two, so I took a little closer look today.

Some things are the same.....

Yep.....still nice and relaxing.....

Some pics of the grounds, and the new bath house.

Like I said before....Its good to come home, and I look forward to spending more time there.

It's time. I just saw where T.W.o.S. is opening weekend for the season. Wish I didn't have to work!

Over the years I met some really interesting people at TWO. These next 2 are from the 90's. These two where some of the original adventure riders, long before this forum existed or the long way around was filmed.

The first is a gal named Nikki. She was a migrant farm worker from England who saved her money for years and came to see America. She bought a round trip ticket to Florida with no date on the return flight. In Florida she bought a used Suzuki cruiser, loaded up her camping gear and headed off to see the US. Someone in Florida told her about TWO. That's were I met her. When she tried to pay her tab, Frank told her the guy in Florida had taken care of it.

I later got a letter and some pics from her. She made it to the west coast and back riding around 15,000 miles.

The second is Frank. He had done a lot of adventure riding in South America. Again, this was long before it became popular like today. He was so short he had to slide off the seat of his GS to put a foot down when he stopped.

Another true adventure rider.

I met a lot of other fascinating people there over the years. I wish I had taken some pics.

Those photos sure bring back some memories and names forgotten! We are going to be there mid April. Wonder if they will be open.

Stay well.

I think I posted this pic before but I'm posting it again because GT passed away a few days ago.

RIP GT.

GT's passing

This is what was posted on TWO Friend's FB page on 8/18/14

Quote:
Rest in Peace, Greg Turner~TWO
I just got word from Mimi White that our old friend, GT passed earlier today.
My condolences to GT's family and especially Brit.
Many of you may remember the "rustic" nature of TWO during Frank Cheek's tenure and certainly there are hundreds of riders forever grateful for Frank's vision.

However, there are many more riders who will always be appreciative of the charming upgrades instituted by Brit and GT. TWO blossomed, literally, under their stewardship. With their guidance, and the efforts of a small group of energetic employees, TWO became not only a place for riders to visit, but it was a place where you were made to feel welcome. There was always a smiling face, cold water, iced tea and sweets for the weary rider to replenish their sagging energy. And for those lucky enough to visit on Friday and Saturday nights, the promise of a well-crafted evening meal was there for those willing to wait. TWO at that time, was a haven for two-wheeled brothers and sisters and the mood there was always one of easy, good times. Not before Brit and GT owned the business, nor since they walked away from TWO has that resort been such a polished expression of genuine hospitality.

Let us all take a moment to remember GT Turner as a man that, for ever how briefly, lived a dream and in turn gave us a one to be cherished forever.
~peace to GT and all those that mourn his passing

From GT’s family

Dear Friends of GT, We are greatly saddened by the loss of GT this past Monday. He was a good kind man and he will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends. On Saturday, Aug 23 at 2pm, a memorial service for GT is being held at Banister Funeral Home, 2068 Hwy 19, North Dahlonega, Georgia. We look forward to meeting any of our brothers friends who will be able to attend. We would appreciate any support to get the word out about GT’s service on Saturday. We’d like to make sure everyone is aware. Something will be posted on the Banister Funeral Home site shortly as well. If you would like to speak at the memorial service, we would welcome your stories and memories.
