I'll be at Wambaw Sunday/tomorrow at 8AM

HOpe to see some of you there. White Ford F150 with alum dual ramp on tailgate. Leave a note. I'll probably do South Loop first.

Anybody interesting in hitting Wambaw tomorrow afternoon (8-11)? I'm probably gonna trailer out on account of needing to troubleshoot a brakelight...

--Nevermind. Looks like it's closed for all of August.

Saturday AM ride

Saturday morning 8/24/13- at least one KLR650 and one DRZ400 will be meeting around 9AM at the gas station at HWY 41 where it crosses the Wando river. Riding gravel and FS roads up to Battery Warren. You are welcome to come on any bike, no advance reservations are needed. If your too late we'll be gone. If you've been talking about wanting to ride some around here this is your chance (Don't blow it). You can find the station on Google and figure how long it takes to get there. Hope to see YOU there.

The 10th annual Pawker Run leaves the Dorchester shrine club at 10 am.
The dirt ride up there leaves from the Hess station at 17 and main road (near Red Top) at 8:30 AM, and must leave on time to make the start. No charge for the dirt part, if you choose to enter the Pawker Run it's $20. If you ride with me I try to hit all nine stops and I cut through any dirt I find along the way. I think I have been at all 9 previous Pawker Runs, they lot's of fun even on a dual sport bike and the BBQ is usually great. Hopefully some of you can come support the SPCA or at least ride the dirt going up.

Who Was That?

Out on my R1 this afternoon and crossed paths with about 20 sport bike riders headed north on Highway 462 near the 462 intersection with I-95 (Coosawhatchie exit), south of Point South/Yemessee. Time was around 4:00 pm. By the time I got turned around, they were gone---so I didn't see if they went north or south on I-95 or on across I-95, staying on 462. Anyone know who those guys were? Nice looking bikes...

Many of us will be heading to Morganton, NC to camp at
Steele Creek campground and support the Pat Sheppard
memorial ride for cancer research. I rode this area year
before last and can tell you Ron Miller knows how to set
up a ride, it was GREAT. I hope some of you come out
and ride. Here is the link http://carolinadualsporters.files.wo...advridepdf.pdf

We are going on a dual sport ride for a long weekend and camping. We were wanting to check out Wambaw and the national forest roads. Are they all closed? Campgrounds? I'm guessing yes but wondered if the trails might still be open. Any other suggestions if everything is closed? Thanks!

Wambaw is closed. They opened it just after finishing up the trailhead work, and all of 5 miles of trail since the trail work isnt done.

Then the petulant child in chief closed it in an effort to make the present financial situation as painful as possible to the populace.

I dont know about the forest service roads.

Gotta love it...spending more closing the shooting range than they spent keeping it open.

What are the service roads like? Is there a lot of them? Just trying to figure out a place to go. Are there other fun dual sport roads in the area?

The forest service roads range from grass to double-track to wide gravel. Hunting season is in full swing, so downed trees won't be much of a problem. Hundreds of miles of roads out there, as long as you don't want hills!

Sitting at the Buck Hall campground now! Ready for some Wambaw trails and dirt roads tomorrow. Hopefully the weather will be OK. Anyone want to join? Yeah, it is hard to get use to this flatland stuff... I'm from TN and miss my hills :(
