Thanks for the RR. I'm contemplating a ride to AK in 2014 and really enjoyed following your journey. Have you put together a summary of travel/route tips?

glad you enjoyed the read.

i've been all over up there, and wouldn't make specific recommendations without knowing more about some of the major variables like rider, bike, objectives, time schedule, and so on.

i do know how i would ride it up there, but my route is not for everyone. if you have questions, feel free to ask.

The grain harvest has been taking a really long time here because its been so wet. They should be done and they normally start the last week in August. Beets are always start in October, and the weather is a crapshoot for them. If its wet there are lots of axels and drive shafts in the machine shop.

Too damn funny!

My nephew just got out of jail for cattle rustlin'.

I didn't have a hand in raisin' him, he'd of known better, I don't play that BS!!
That's a mans livelihood, lucky his ass didn't get shot. At the VERY LEAST with rock salt!!

Thanks for taking the time to do the RR, I really enjoy your writing style. Stay safe, how 'bout a link to the new build, 'preciate it.

as far as my recommendation for your trip with the big orange, simple, bring a tow strap, y'all can take turns.

your nephew is one lucky dude, there are still places where he wouldn't have made it to jail...at least in one piece.

new build posts are still in the V649HP bike build thread, so that link is still good.

hey there David,

naw, the weather was good so i ran up the Dempster to Tombstone on that worn out rear tire, then into Dawson the next day to meet up with some D2D riders. all in all, a nice little trip.

still running enduros on that KTM?

Not this year. Had a lot of catching up to do around the house after a 19 race schedule last year. Reloaded the wallet, got the honey do list wiped out and am really excited to get back to it next year. Your rr has me thinking about a trip. Have a ton of ideas... see where the trip fits in with the racing.

sounds like a plan for '14. if trip plans have you above the border, i might have been there and could offer route info.

things changing so fast up there, it's hard to keep up. the old "big gravel" roads that have provided adventure for more than one generation are being improved to the point that adventure is diminished. the plus side is that there is much ongoing discussion about some new roads to serve the oil/gas sector, mining efforts, and hydro projects. it's just a matter of time...hope i'm still young.
