I heard an interview with Bautista that said that the soft compund worked good with his bike for almost 22 laps. Problem arised when they used hard and super-hard compound, that tend to slip more during accelerations, overheat and consume sooner.
Also Dovizioso said that there is a phenomenon of "blistering" after a certain number of laps that they don't know how to deal with (basically confirming what Bootlace already wrote).

I am not a fan of scripted drama (as this surely is), but it will be interesting to see unfold.

Looking forward to the low down, BOOT-y.
Well we've had our briefing, the track has been modified in regards to pit entry and exit....but as for the details.....? It seems like they're making it up on the run. It's a fiasco!! (With Spanish/Italian accent)

Keeping track with the blue flag is gunna be interesting.

Hopefully, this should clear a few things up. The flag-to-flag situation, as I understand it.

unfortunately dorna are onto us...if you have a new engine in the second bike you have to do a ride through as well as the pit stop.So it would seem the best strategy for Nicky( and anyone else in engine trouble ) is to start with the new engine from pit lane att he start.I reckon the pit stops will be chaos.lots of time could be lost here. And if it rains who is to say the wets will last the whole race?

High speed + time on the left hand side of the tyre.

I think it is pretty common when a track is resurfaced. There were questions going in about tires. Add the unusually temperate conditions and there you have it.

But while a tyre may look visibly okay on the outside, Bridgestone had arrived at their decision after cutting open the Friday tyres for examination.
Ducati's Andrea Dovizioso confirmed: "The hardest tyre was the worst to see on the outside, but every tyre they cut they saw the blisters yesterday. When we made a good lap time at the end of the practice Bridgetone said that the inside was not OK and they said that more than 14 laps was not good."
