Out

Nutz. I was looking forward to seeing everyone, and to listening to Gimpy bitch about everything he's ever heard of.

Family first, though.

Well, that was a hoot. After a 6 month hiatus from camping and riding......a most enjoyable weekend.

We had about 8 or 9 riders show up. Riding Saturday was awesome (thanks to ITSAGS), and the campfire banter was, as usual, heard around the entire campground.

Capt. Huggie and I rode up Friday AM, after a brief stop at ITSAGS's place. We stopped at Giant Buger for dinner , then rolled into camp to find Golden Taco, his buddy, DanTroop and Bernie. We made a night of light drinking for as to wake up bright and early and get on the road.

Saturday morning we had a light conversation about the fail/awesomeness of ObamaCare, and how there is a direct correlation between pirate population and global warming.

ITSAGS showed up and we took off up Hwy 104.

Up to Alpine Lake

Over Ebbets Pass, and down

Huggie

I took this holding the camera backwards while riding

to Grover Hot Springs for a quick scout,

only to find Barfy and company departing from Markleyville. They Followed us

over Monitor Pass,

and on

Through Topaz, Calif.

Until the fucking Marines showed up

Over Hwy 108, passing all the slow ass Harley riding Pirates :ymca

who, that day, had NO CONCEPT of road courtesy, weaving back and forth so that there was NO safe way to get around them

Back to camp where, luckily, the campground was mostly empty, so that we could carry on as we usually do, singing songs about....furry motorcycle boots, the story of the scratching raccoons/ How Barfy got his name, watching ITSAGS get drunk

, , , ect. It was....fucking HILAROUS the shit we were talking about.
Sunday, we were packing up and 2 of the wee neighbor girls came over and asked if we were the noisy guys who were talking all night.

Us? No!

H2OPumper was apparently a few sites down and told us we could be heard throughout the campground.

Ohh the HORROR!

All in all it was another great event. A HUGE thanks to ITSAGS for trying to find a good campground for us (to only be screwed over by a federal shut-down) and for leading us on saturday's ride.

As always it is MUCH MORE enjoyable to have ITSAGS (aka Gary) riding and drinking with us, and we would all agree that giving him a hand when he needs it is really no big deal.

Thanks for all who made it out, nice meeting all the new riders, and for simply puting up with all of the unknowns that made this event 'challenging' this year. As this was the first return to riding and camping since busting my foot in May, it was even that much more enjoyable for me.

Until the Spring Green Ride.....in spring.....

What a blast.

I had a great time again as usual. The campfire banter was particularly entertaining and maybe a little too eye opening for our neighbors whose parents have probably completely revamped their campsite selection process...and maybe they figured out how to put up a tent.

The trip did not have any malfunctions except the night before leaving when I found my preload adjuster had shit the bed. I managed to make some spacers around 2am after figuring out how to clamp my preload piston in place to insert the spacers. 3 spacers in and ready for bed.

Heading up 108 from the Bay area MikeG and I met up with dantroop and continued up to Strawberry for lunch. We then headed west through Hells Half Acre.

MikeG en route to experience his first ADV shit-show.

Weeeee!

We arrived at camp to meet 1Brunoj and settle in for some lies and opinions for the evening.

Saturday MikeG, dantroop, and I decided to head up into the mountains in search of dirt and tribulations...we found both.

Taking 7n11 near the Cabbage Patch Maint Station we headed for Kings Realm and the backside of Bear Valley Ski resort.

Our mules and a field of mule ears

dantroop finally on a relaxing stretch after one of the tough sections...just one more mile then it's all easy...yeah right!

MikeG loving his new TKC80...told ya!

Oh and there were pretty trees too. This bunch looked like they were on fire.

Then we get to the tricky spot. 100yds of babyheads and 6" deep silt chewed up by the Jeeps. As you know pics don't do this justice but Chris here with a few hundred dirt miles under his belt ( much of that on this trip up to this point) managed to handle this spot well. We all more or less walked the bikes through the nasty loosies and I think his bike only got caught napping once.

That was a lot easier going down rather than up but by no means would either way be called easy.

Cruise control now as we meander through the forest and almost out to the road, we get to have fun with the berms.

A radiator inspection for Chris (dantroop) results in a sigh of relief as he finds the cap is just loose. Probably knocked loose during a bike nap. Dinner at The Mother Lode Mexican restaurant in Arnold was great, now for some Tequila and wine...

Midnight and the drunkards are sawing logs. It sounds like the Three Stooges...rediculous but the sky is clear and the view ain't so bad.

I always wondered what my moto does when I am asleep/passed out.

ditto

Great time Rode up with Golden Taco and Mike. Jon sure knows the trails!
1Brunoj make us a killer bkfast Sat. Saved us a trip into Arnold. Then hit the trail. Me literally, many times. Thought I was doing ok did a few gold strike dances (you know when you're bouncing off the trail feet flying up in the air) till we started down the mountain. That was brutal. Something to work on till next time.

The campfire banter was hilarious Even through the usual BS there was educational value. Never knew the correlation between the decline in the pirate population and global warming

I didn't realize my sd card was full, so no vid. Got a few stills.

I decided not to ride with Golden Taco and Mike to Bodie. I was tired, sore and well, not hung over but not so spry. I'm glad I wussed out. By the time I got home I was exhausted.

Got to get back to work on my tranny install. Will post more soon.

This all looks incredibly stupid!

Too bad the timing didn't work out. Would've been great to see Capt Huggie! He shows up at too few events.
