After making keg cleaning my friend today, I finally got caught up on the Oso Tour, which is Oso Over.

Sad Oso is Sad.

Lica and I were missing all our Osos today. Here is a video clip on what we were up to. We were scouting some trails for 2014 Polar Oso, poutine tour.

Day 1 of the Rally

This is my first rally ever so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Honestly, I was pretty intimidated, kinda felt like Elle Woods walking into Harvard.
I'm not much of a gear head in terms of the inner workings of the mechanics, but I respect the beauty and the art of mechanics.
I'm more of a bookworm, so if there are written instructions.
Whether it be writing a formula in Excel, baking a cake, putting together a lighting fixture, building a desk to changing tires, I'm willing to learn and try.

Boy those Oso's get around. Looks like some of them showed up on the KTM Rally flyer. Thanks again for another great report Kelly.

That's Radek driving, and that's Matt on the back!!
I don't recognize the guy in the middle.

Thanks, Brian!
It was great meeting you and the guys.
I enjoyed having some ride report crossover with your RR - it was fun!
And thanks to you, Napoleon Pass is on our new short list
Maybe see you out there?

As far as the riding goes, there is no way that I can describe how impressed I am with the way the Osos ride their big bikes. I always say that I am the limiting factor when riding my 990. I had no idea how much of a limit I am. Thanks for making me feel completely inadequate.

I guess that I am going to have to start stepping up my game.
Hi Skyclad!
Thanks for joining us!
Aw, sorry - I have a feeling that a lot of big KTMs are going to be gaining more "character" thanks to this RR.
Oso "Inspiring."

Have fun, but don't get hurt!!

Awww - that is one sad Oso!

I'm sad, too, Justin!
Hope the brewing is going well.
Thanks for hanging out with us, we enjoyed your company!

and you saw I'm still using that photo you took of our blinker held on with electrical tape!

Just Paul sent us that flyer a while back - I'm surprised KTM used that pic!

It seems like KTM squandered their time in Colorado,
from what I've seen, it looks like the riding was pretty boring.
Granted, the weather was uncooperative, but still.
They were in Colorado!

I know the Osos had a great time at the 2012 Bend rally,
(mostly because of all the awesome Bend guys like K_N_Fodder and wachs...)
But, I wonder what KTM's going to use on the flyer for next year?

Woooo! Looking good, Radek!
Can't wait to see what you and Lica find.
I see you were testing out your new suspension...
How did it feel?

Now that yours is done, I guess Alex should be working on Osito's and Bartek's...

Nice to see the Osos are still spending time together!
Speaking of Bartek, he and Matt were riding little bikes this weekend...

which is why I'm here with you guys lately.

Thanks again for the nice comments, you guys.
It's hard to let go, isn't it?

I love having my life back, but a part of me misses our time together.
It was a really fun ride to re-live.

By the way - I finally got around to doing that index I keep talking about...
I went back to page 1, post #1 and made all the ride highlights into clickable links.
It wasn't easy, I had to go back and forth between Firefox and Safari.

I didn't test them all, so please let me know if anything is screwed up...

But, this way, it will be easier to find the specific passes and all the "good stuff."
I really need to go back and re-read some of it, like Schofield.

This is still one of my favorite photos of the trip...

Yaaaaaaaaaaah! Osooooooooo!

Oh, yeah - Maybe if kaia is reading this report, he'll come back and tell us how many photos and smilies I used this time.

Well I stopped in at the Steamboat rally for about two hours on Friday morning. They have lots of pics of pretty 1190's parked on pavement. And probably pictures of rain, lots of rain.

Since I was on the other brand, I headed out to Rawlins and points north.

I have a few pics here MTrider16

Just caught up on this fantastic Oso Tour RR!

Thanks for sharing the adventure, and you Osos really worked those Big Bikes hard, and Wans 2-Up for most of it, that rocks!
I've beat my '07 990S pretty hard but not that bad!

... wonder if those Big Oranges could do the whole Rainbow Trail in CO, 2-Up. Surely that would be trivial?

The Oso's never seem to stop

Lica and Radek showed up at our Fall Newbie ride this past weekend and put on an impressive display riding their monster machines on trails meant for little dirt bikes. These guys are gods.

Radek's bike alone weighs more than me and mine combined.

This pic does not provide a good comparison, but I think both 990's also have more clearance than my Beta's 12 inches.

As good as these guys are, they expressed much respect for Matt's "no wasted movements" riding skills, especially riding two up.

Maybe these guys are only demigods. The Wans are the true masters.

Thank you Matt and Kelly and the rest of the Oso's for a great ride report. Epic stuff.

Hiya cyborg!
I'm glad you found us
wooo! '07 990S! getting harder and harder to find one...they keep getting totaled for some reason.

Hmmm. I'm not really thinking about Colorado at the moment, but I did google the Rainbow Trail...

I suck at research, I can only do it just before we leave on a trip,
but I found a couple things and will stick them here for future reference...(and for anyone else who is curious)

ADV thread Rainbow Trail GPS tracks
Rainbow trail ride report on Everytrail (haven't read it yet, just bookmarking now)

Thanks for the suggestion!

Go OSOs Go!!!!!!
Thanks for the link, Ladybug!

24 hr race on big bikes!

Radek's representing the Osos on this one...
Matt said, "Hmph. no one told me about it. "

Good luck Radek and the rest of the heavyweights!!

Hi Joel! Thank you!
haha, OK, no little bikes.

You guys are always talking about the "next one!"

oh my goodness, j2beers!

"gods??" "demigods?" "masters??"

Now you're just being silly.
You're trying to get us struck by lightning!!

I know it's simply RR zeal and you (and everyone else who has said insanely nice things here) are just being generous and sweet...
(muchas gracias!)

But...
We're just a dumb, middle-aged couple who enjoys being in the dirt.
Sometimes, waaaay down in the dirt...

That's it.
Nothing special here.
We just don't mind testing to see what's unimpossibler.

Sounds like you guys had a nice ride - and no snow yet!
By the way - what the hell are Radek and Lica doing on a "Newbie ride??"

Thanks so much for your RR support and enthusiasm!
P.S. Radek's bike is one of the lightest ones - no crash bars, no side racks, only 1 front rotor...
his 990 is probably 20lbs lighter than ours....

I enjoyed every minute of this ride report. Great writing, great humor, and great photos. You all look like a wonderful (wan-derful?) bunch of people. Thanks for putting so much time and effort into the report. It was certainly worth it to all of us following along!

Better late than never

I read all your R.R.s and never take the time to reply, but this one was special to me as our little group spent 2 weeks in the same area a couple weeks after you'al , Moab and Ouray ! Fun area ....

We felt like Oso's on 450 KTM's only we were dubbed as the AARP Tour ...lol ,,, while at Newspaper Rock we were accused of stealing our grandkids dirt bikes ,, what a hoot... Hey I didn't have to get back home to go back to work though !

I love your reports , I know it takes a ton of time to write and post , but it is enjoyed by so many..

Ride safe ,,, well that never lasts very long ,just have fun !
If you ever come to E.Tn. you have a place to stay , Matt can even use my shop , maybe teach me something about my 990 ADV , great bikes..

Ronnie

You guys are the best , love to meet all the Oso's someday!
