Stolen: 2010 KTM 990 Adventure from Scotts Valley, CA

I'm cross-posting this from the West forum just in case...

Just got back from camping with the family and found my bike has been stolen. Police report has been made but I figured I'd post here just in case anybody sees one come up for sale in their area. Approximately 6000 miles. CA License # 776879Y.

Moose racing windscreen, Akra cans, and G2 throttle cam are the only non-stock items.

This photo was taken two weeks ago at Ebbetts pass on the way to Tahoe.

Keep an eye on craigslist not for the bike but parts. Its an expensive enough bike that they likely wont just try to sell the whole thing but as goodies off of it.

That's a good idea. I figured without the chipped key they'd have a hard time selling it as is anyway. I've read enough of the immobilizer posts to know it's not simple.

how did it happen

Hey there,

sorry about your bike being stolen. How did it happen (I know you said you were away)? Interested to hear if your bike was outside or in your garage. Was it just the bike stolen or did they get more stuff?

Interested because I will be moving to Ben Lomond in about two weeks (and will have my 2010 990r with me) and I hadn't thought about more security then having the bike in the garage.

Hope you get good news soon - will keep my eyes open as well around the south bay area.

cheers

If it helps anyone search use something like http://www.searchtempest.com/
Fill in the options, search area etc. and it will go nationwide if needed. Even remembers past search strings to make clicking back easy. (can even tack on ebay/amazon under options)

Not my company or webpage etc, but I will keep my eyes open for any great deals in my area.

I left it parked at my office building not in plain sight of people who could casually drive by. This area is very low crime. I got lazy and didn't push it into the building where it would have been perfectly fine.

I live in Boulder Creek and had the bike in plain sight on my street for the last 8 months. I'm sure I could have left it at my house with no problems. Circumstances around vacation caused me to leave the bike at work and it was just too easy of a target.

I look forward to seeing a 990R on highway 9. I've only seen one in the last year.

Sorry to hear this Reese. I will keep my eyes open down here in the Valley. ( and I will hold off posting my old engine parts for sale on Craigslist too.)

Recovered

I got a call from my local police department today and they put me in touch with a different department that had recovered it. It's at a tow yard in Vallejo, CA accruing storage fees as of today. I'm going to try to pick it up tomorrow and decide what to do with it.

This is what it looks like two months later.

Not necessary to post... but

I hate scum sucking thieves. They all should suffer, as they will, as karma will take care of their low lives.
