So that was it. I had a great time, despite the damage. We did some harder stuff than either of us thought we were going to do, met some cool folks, drank some cold beer, and got to relax a bit and forget about the stresses of life.

Obviously wish we had more time, but I think we accomplished a lot in a short period of time.

I was a bit, er, "focused", on getting through the border and probably scared a few natives and I think only smacked one mirror, so not all bad. In terms of crossing, I'd avoid Mexicali- it is much like a typical border town. Jason Borne bells go off in me at certain times, and the mission becomes the focus with all other distractions merely roadblocks- thus why Yeti was probably surprised to see me a little "different" than my usual jovial self.

Ah well, hope you guys enjoyed the fun! I live vicariously often through ride reports, so I hope this offers a little fun for everyone.

Thanks guy for sharing your long weekend. Terrific pictures, I really like the night shot. Night in Baja seems to always be beautiful.

Yeti, what a great ride!

LTS: Outstanding work proving that Pigs can fly...or at least dig trenches! I had the pleasure meeting you up in Bishop this year (WR250r) and look forward to rides like this one. Baja is barely 90 minutes from my door - I'm ashamed I don't get down there more.

Great report and adventure.

However, I think you'd both enjoy the dirt places even more on a proper (Lighter) dirt bike.

Then again maybe that's not the point.

Thanks for the report! Are you guys going down for the 1000?
And can someone tell me WTF is up with the bikes starting at 11:00PM???
Some friends and I were going to ride out to Laguna Salada where the racers come down out of the hills. Changing plans now.

More separation between bikes and cars/trucks. It's a dangerous sport...

Yes and no. As you surmised, for this ride, that wasn't the point. For this ride we covered mega miles which would have sucked balls on our 450's. This ride was to ride TO Baja, cover some of the greatest hits, and RIDE back.

That said, while we were there we planning/scheming about bringing the 450's down for some fun . . .

If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there.

Do you mean Mama Espinoza? We weren't ever that far west- stayed on the Sea of Cortez side. I've eaten there before and according to Bruno, Mama is still alive and doing OK.
