San Felipe to Chapala pavement

anyone know how far the road is paved between San Felipe and Chapala?

A couple miles north of Gonzaga according to a friend who has a house south of San Felipe

Yep, that's what I read, paved to Alphonsina's entrance. Haven't seen it for myself though.

This yrs Baja 1000 map show pavement from Chapala to Coco's is this correct? there was no pavement there last year.

As I understand it, the main (paved) road has been rerouted away from coco's. He told me he'd be about a km off the main road when it's done.

No not correct. It's not paved as of yet. See post above. Current info.

wow, paved to Gonzaga finally. Will be interesting to see how much more traffic it gets this winter. I'll be down there in a couple months so will be interesting to see what the effect is on Gonzaga.

The whole deal is to get the big rigs down Baja without the big detour. It's gonna be crazy once it's finished.

Nothing compared to going over the mountains after Ensenada. It will take a lot of time and miles off the truck routes.

recent local rumour was a new parallel highway to the west of the current highway in this section, but that may just be wishful thinking from the campo residents whose peace and quiet will soon be interrupted.
