Hey guys. I'll be heading across the border on Nov 11th (on a 525, no vehicle) so PM me if anyone needs a chase crew member or pit help. I've cased and raced the mil before so might be of help to a team in need.
If anything, I'm good at starting tire fires and know where a lot of the great taco stands are.:

Looks like the course is going down the long rocky downhill between Hwy 3 and Laguna Salada that was used by the recent NORRA/CODE race. That is going to be extremely challenging for the bikes that will be running that section in the dark. It's very rocky, very tight, lots of turns with steep drop-offs, and its a long frickin' downhill stretch.

Could turn into a real bottleneck situation for the cars/trucks later...

That tiki hut was awesome. Nothing like jager at 5 am to keep you awake.

This looks like a pretty rough one for bikes and especially ironman. Up all day with tech and reg then start a 900 mile race. :what:

Fantastic! Best of luck to you and the team. Be especially careful on that nighttime start!

Riding on Team Los Apocolistas out of Texas

I got recruited to ride a leg of this year's SCORE race. Headed down to pre run the week of the 10th. They have me slotted for RM 470-700 for my leg. Looking forward to seeing some of the MX1K crew down there.

Cheers-

That should be an interesting section to ride. It's not a common route for the SCORE races so should equalize things as far as nobody being overly familiar with the course. Good luck!!!

Looking forward to it

I would venture to guess COCOS corner will be a good place to shoot.. maybe too early and still dark for pros. Gps's are the choice of the team and are to keep them on the trail.. they are making use of SPOT trackers and stopped working with IRC .. cant say much on that .

If your talking about the Summit, going down the east side is the easy part, you would be surprised how fast the cars/trucks go down that. It's the going up the west side that can be hard for the slower classes. That could be a real pain for the bikes in the dark too, there are some BIG rocks on the steep climb.

No it's not the Summit. This downhill is much more difficult than going down the east side of the Summit. There was quite a bit of buzz from the 4-wheel guys on Race-Dezert about how difficult this section will be for them because it is so tight, and so long. If a 4-wheeler breaks on parts of this section, there's simply no way to get around the disabled vehicle. The 4-wheelers will not be hauling ass down this section.

On this route, going up the west side is the easy part! It's the east side past the crest that's a bitch, and in the dark for the bikes it may be quite dangerous.

Dammit! I hate missing the new stuff! I haven't even looked at the map of the course yet or even the Score web site lately. I'm just bummed I wont be there this year.
