Talimena Drive Fall Colors question

Anyone in the area? If so, how is the foliage? We're thinking about riding down there this weekend (26th-27th), wondering if there is any color yet?
If not, we'll go elsewhere.

The pics below were taking last Friday (Big Piney) and Saturday (White Rock), about 80 miles north of Mena. The color is still predominately green. I'm seeing a little color around Little Rock (due East of Mena). I think we're still a couple weeks out, before we significant color change.

(Next report is due on 10/24 - Today)

Thx...nlp

I've got a group of friends staying at Talemina State Park right now, so I shot them the question.

They said the leaves are just starting to change, so there is a little bit of color, but it isn't full-bore just yet.

I think the Talahina fall colors tour /rally/ hootenanny is the last weekend of oct.

I/we happened to hit that date a couple of years ago. There was a solid line of cars from one end to the other. It took us nearly 3 hours to ride that 55 mile ride. I won't make that mistake again.

We didn't go because of the rain forecast. We rode to Tahlequah, Jay, and Spavinaw, never got into rain. Fall colors are virtually nonexistent at this time.

Same here, we are going to head up Early Sunday morning for a few days. Things are really getting nice north of I-40. Gonna head towards Nashville or Mena and play it by ear/eye. Probably have to more north.

I live about five miles from the Missouri border, about fifteen miles north of Harrison and the colors are really good right now.
The view out the home office window.

I wish I could see said view ...

I have plans on Saturday, but I may have to ride down there on Sunday to check it out for myself...

Color Update?

What is the latest update on colors near Talihina? They are nearly in full color in the metro area.

Went yesterday. The colors are so-so. A lot of brown already, especially up high.

I'm not sure it will get any better; but the area is still beautiful...
