Lent my bike to a friend, went on holidays for two weeks, go to see him
and he reckoned it had a noise in it! So its been reduced to this No worries, I was planning on a rebuild anyway. All bits available, although I was told that I got the last gasket kit in Australia! so I'd better not have to pull it apart again

Very nice.
Hi guys,
They are Stadium shocks made in Canada near Montreal.
They have a blader separating oil from gas so can be mounted eiter way but would not clear the PE frame the other way.

Ah, Frank from Quebec

Hi Frank, Jim here from Seattle. About that Powerdynamo ignition you installed, the 250 kit fits the 400, is that right? and how about the rotor, it's probably not as heavy as the stock 400 one, is that ok? Is the timing adjustable and how did you set it?
I really like the way you set up your bike, for the road and all. I'll bet the rear shocks cost more than you have in the bike. very nice, thanks

Hi Jim,

I did use the powerdynamo 250 system, it should have been a bolt on thing as stock 250 and 400 magneto are the same but for some reason the taper in the flywheel was too big so I had a sleeve machined to fill the gap. I never tried a 400 with stock ignition so can't comment on performance relative to it, I set the timing at 15 dgrees BTDC.
If you do such a setup, you will also have to reduce the compression ratio a lot or jet it pig rich to stop it overheating on the road.

Frank

That's weird Frank, I'm in the position of going through my 400 and updating it for street use. I have the stock ignition but haven't even started it yet so I don't know how it performs either. My manual states the timing should be set at 17 degrees. I wouldn't think it would affect much unless your changing the timing. If anything you would think it would help the stock system with a better spark and combustion but I don't know much about that stuff. Thanks for your response.
