Great RR and wonderful pictures. Brings back a lot of fond memories of a similar trip my wife and I took an number of years ago with friends.
Glad to see you took Mr. Happy with you. Hope he behaved himself.

seeing your pictures reminds me of my trips through Utah etc. I can recall being out there (& California) telling myself I gotta get back out this way and explore some more, with lots of free time to wander around. Then the years roll by.....but I have went other cool places meanwhile. I just gotta get back and finish exploring ------"revisit" as you call it....

Feliz - I'd love to ride with you. But tomorrow's my big teaching day and night class. Figures. The weather always seems to be sunny and relatively warm on the only day of the week I can't ride.

Wife and I did Blues Fest in TBay, and Aerostitch rally in Duluth along with Utah, I took a trip to the Winnipeg Folk Festival and then to the Black Hills on the KLR

I think next summer I am going to concentrate on NWOntario backroads for a project i have in mind.

Also looking at doing the Forever West ride http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=647968 . That one would be late Aug or early Sept. In the prelim stages of recruitment right now.

Denise and I want to possibly start a run down highway 61. It runs from TBay to New Orleans and is known as the "Blues Highway". There are a million possible side trips off that highway once you get into Wisconsin and of course the deep south so will do it a small bite at a time as she still has to work to support my lifestyle ha ha.

Trouble is trying to avoid the high humidities of the deep south so late Sept or early Oct run. It will also of course be dependant on what kind of hurricane season we get next year.

I ordered some books from Whitehorse Press to help plan future rides. One book focus's on Appalachian area. I would like to poke along on the KLR in that general area, going through West Virginia etc.
Returning to California / Utah is high on the list, but Oregon and Idaho, & Washington has yet to be explored to any great extent, other than passing through on the coastline.
Good enjoyable KLR riding on the backroads can't be rushed. It takes time, and daily distances aren't very big . A good run would need at least 2 months, with the further away stuff maybe 3 months.
So many roads.....

Hekto...we just got back from there. We will try to throw together a RR shortly. The mountain roads are "all good!"
We were a bit messed up looking for gravel roads. It seemed every one was just a driveway into a farm house. Not so. Got hooked up with some local riders and found out that most "county" roads (gravel) are more like a "right-of-way"....yes they go to a farmhouse, and through the barn yard..out into the field and such. Yes, there will be a farmers gate across. Open the gate, go through, close the gate. Its a legal right of way. However...If you see smoke, smell sourmash cooking or hear banjo's...discretion would say..head the other way.

If you are motel-ing it watch out for College towns in the fall. Football games and "Alumni" weekends will drive up the price and availability of rooms.
