You are correct. I have been checking the temperatures and where I wanted to ride they are having lows in the teens and highs in the mid 40's. Too cold for me.

Ophir Pass March 2014, Anyone been there?

Has anyone seen Ophir Pass in Central Nevada lately. Not as much snow this winter so I'm hoping it will open earlier this year.

But you know that already! It is a pretty steep grade pretty much the whole way. There was a section where it finally sort of flattened out but there were 2 ruts about 10 inches deep in the road that needed to be avoided. Then it got steep again and rocky. Then there was some big rocks. Then a big section of exposed rock going around a steep right hand turn. Then more loose steep rocks. Then your first picture where it was really loose and hard to get going again. Then more steep loose rock road. Then finally the summit. I am sure it would be easy if you did not ever stop or crash. I fell down 3 times. It is a long relentless grade. I was sure glad we decided to stay in the luxurious accommodations in Carvers and do it in the morning rather than late in the afternoon.

Be sure to take a run thru Jefferson Canyon just to the east of Carvers. It is a fun one too! Stop in at Belmont and say hi at the Belmont Inn.
