I have an '84 TT 600 and Im about to do the LABV race next month. I'd like to put an oil cooler on her and gear down the back end. Any suggestions for where to get an aftermarket oil cooler? Tire suggestions would also be appreciated. Anyone else doing the desert run on a TT?

www.kedo.com or www.off-the-road.de should have oilcooler-kits.

Oh no no I live in Nashville TN and we're trailering the bikes behind a 15 passenger van and cramming a bunch of friend and females in and driving until we get to the edge of the grand canyon. sleep, booze, greenery. then LA for thanksgiving and shredding the next day. we got a '92 XR650, my '84 TT600, and two scramblers, an '06 and an '11. im also bringing my '74 can-am tnt 125 for some of our friends who aren't racing to tool around the desert with. i think a buddy of mine is gonna trailer his '72 CB750 and ride asphalt from LA to barstow and camp and then ride the rest of the way and heat up the tables for us

Maybe that is why I had to have a new knee installed about a year ago?

I liked the motor so much I picked up an SRX 600 and still have that one today!
No fun to kick over. Mine was especially a bear when it was hot.

Mine always started 1-2 kicks! Replace the kicker with a XT 600 part. The TT kicker is crap!!

'96 TT600 rear end onto '01 XT600E??

I've asked the same question over on the XT600 thread. I apologise if this has already been covered elsewhere.

I have a 1996 TT600 minus an engine, but it has USD front forks, Ohlins rear shock and 21"/18" Excel rims etc. I also have a 2001 XT600E in good condition.

I planned to bring over the XT wiring harness, including coils, CDI etc., and the engine from the XT and fit to the TT. I bought the TT 'as is' without the motor so unfortunately I can't compare the engines, but Im hoping the XT engine will fit straight in. I initially wanted the TT for the wheels and suspension, if its easier to swap them over to the XT then I'd rather do that. Does anyone know if it is an option to fit the rear swing arm and rear shock from the TT onto the XT?

TT to XT or visa versa

Hi Tiggs ,

I'm no expert but I would have thought the XT engine and loom in the TT rolling chassis would have been the most straightforward wat to go , Does the XT have the cush drive/disc rear wheel and does the TT have the non cush drive/ disc rear wheel ? I guess if that's the case lacing the cush drive hub to the TT rim might be a good idea , just to make it clear 'Im no expert !

Good luck Glenn

Thanks Glenn, yes your right cush rear on the XT solid mount on TT, both disc brake. My initial plan was as you have suggested to swap XT engine and loom over to the TT but then I thought it may be easier to just swap over the suspension components.

I can't seem to find out if it is possible to put the rear swing arm and shock from the TT into the XT?

Hi Tiggs ,

I'm sure that the rear wheels are interchangable between the TT and XT with the right spacers as I have the cush drive and non cush drive rear wheels for my TTRE .

Cheers
Glenn

Thanks Ed, I saw that bike in the FM.
I have an '83 roller that I started fixing up but stopped when I picked up this '84. I put a complete '86 YZ490 front end on it. (Great minds think alike. )
I'm installing an XT600 engine in mine right now. Here's an explanation of what's going on with it. http://www.thumpertalk.com/topic/832569-zrxers-tt600/
