Just got home from the TMT and the TMT Alternate. My girlfriend and I hopped on our Ural and left Kingston, NY at about noon, yesterday. We took the alternate route north from Connecticut and spent the night in Greenfield. We were back on the trail this morning at 9:00. It was a little rainy yesterday and pretty foggy this morning, but we stayed rather dry. Trying to find gas anywhere near Becket was interesting. The Ural gets about 35 MPG, so I started to pucker a little. We headed up Route 8 and found a Cumberland Farms in Dalton. Then we looped back onto the TMT and got a chance to re-ride one of my favorite segments of the trip. There is a 90 degree, left hand, downhill turn onto Becket Rd. that was fantastic to slide the side car around!

I can't thank you guys enough for putting this route together. We're sore, tired, and a little damp, but we had such a blast!

Pretty crummy weather this weekend for dirt road riding. Though the TMT is more sandy/gravelly than the clay back roads up in VT. The Puppy Dog gets pretty snotty with a few inches of rain on it.

Neither the TMT nor the Puppy Dog are very challenging or demanding in the dry weather. Just some nice, mostly smooth dirt roads to do some back country touring on. Hell, I could ride my FJR down either one no problem, but it wouldn't be nearly as much fun as sliding the Vstrom or Pegaso around all those corners. It is no problem maintaining an average of 30 mph+ on either of them. BTDT (got the sticker)

I find the TMT much more fun when it's a little wet to slide around on.

Our moving average seems to be 36.5 or so. I think on our FJR's it would be half that and very expensive to fix the FJR after a fall like you know who did on our TMT ride. Some day these young guys will learn it can hurt falling down.

I saw you guys Monday afternoon. I was on Silverbrook just in from RTE 57.

I was in a Silver Honda Ridgeline. Had to move over a bit so we could pass each other. I was out laying out part of the Dualsport loop for the Berkshire Triple

Thanks for moving over, Rusty! I was surprised how many really nice cars were out on some of those roads. We passed a Fiat 500 Abarth on a road that I figured was only for Jeeps. It's tough, too, moving over enough for oncoming traffic while not putting the sidecar into the ditch!

I wish I could make it out next weekend, but I'll be in the opposite direction on a different bike. Maybe next year!

I don't do route sheets. I did post a garmin file in post 434 of this thread.

So there is no tree blocking River Rd now? That is good to hear.
After we got the closed gate on Hallockville Rd last time, I re-routed the alternative route to catch up with the other TMT route on 116 and split off in Ashfield again. In the process I found a really nice piece of road off of 116.

East St in the first 1:45 of this VIDEO

Here is a screenshot of the changes I made

Thanks for showing us! That section of 116 West of 112 is pretty boring and your dirty section will make it a lot better.
