There's a few guys in the 1190 thread that have gotten a chance to ride both the standard KTM 1190 Adv back to back with the 1190 Adv R model. One guy in particular said that he thought there was quite a bit of difference between the two bikes and how they felt and how they were setup and surprisingly there's a few that don't like the R as much as they thought they would? To them, the standard was a much better road bike and I guess if you really don't take it off road that might be the better bike for them. I think if you have any inclination of taking the 1190 in anything other than gravel roads though, the only choice is the R model for the better off road tire selection. :deal

I'm looking forward to eventually being able to ride the R model. :D

Haven't had time to write one. It was a great trip. Started out with a bike setup, a lot of mixed riding, some sightseeing and exploring, then a great family break, and an endurance ride home. :clap

    Hey guys,

I need some direction, I am planning to ride up from Atlanta, and will be riding with a lady friend. Wanting to see the changing of the leaves, and I would like to hit a forest service road at some point. Planning to leave Atlanta around 11 AM. If you can give me some direction, I would appreciate it. I am planning this trip to happen on Monday.

    Thanks,
    Dean- Ritebike

I realize that everybody is a noob at some point, but "come on man". If you can't find them, you probably don't need to be riding them. :deal (map)

Lots of ways to do it but may I suggest up 515 and get off at Jasper, GA 53 east bound to pick up Burnt Mountain Road. Then to GA 136, to GA 52. Turn off onto Nimblewill Church Road which turns into FS 28-1, Winding Stair Gap Rd, to FS 42. Go east to the end, which is at Suches. Lots more good Cadillac gravel from there into Coopers Creek. The leaves are peak plus right now. Don't delay. They're falling fast.

Dean, i'll second the Nimblewill suggestion. You can also stop by REI & pick up the Nat Geo map (#777, link) that has them all listed along with the roads.

    Jeff

PS: call ahead. I bought mine there years ago & assume they still carry em.

I was all over Jasper, Ellijay, Cartecay, etc. today and say a bunch of nice bikes - figured some had to be inmates. On 515 I saw a new Super Tenere, couple of nice GSs, and a white V-Strom. This evening coming back down 515 we saw a couple on two bikes with Quebec tags (Guzzi and a Shadow).

I was solo half the day and had my wife the latter half - both of us in hi viz jackets on the Strom. If it was any of y'all that we saw, "Hello" from both of us. It was an awesome day to be out riding.

No, that's ok, I see stuff all the time while riding and think "Oh that would suck to land on / hit...ect.
I saw abunch of stuff the first time I rode around MotoMtn..trees cut down low 2/3s of the way thru and a good "2'-3' Sword" left sticking up where it broke off sharp as it fell.

    The bike took the spike
Sometimes you wish your bike was softer when you land on it or it lands on you but sometimes you are glad it is hard when it hits a spike instead of you!
