I feel your pain Travex. My GS is parked for the year in a heated back room where I can mess with it during the Winter a little bit. It will not come out until mid April as usual...

I did just pick up a new TW200 to get out a few times and to just goof around locally till I can't do it anymore. Just getting the heated grips installed and barkbusters on this week along with Gerbing thermostat and GPS wiring.

I don't ski or ride sleds anymore. Can't wait to Spring Forward..............

Thanks * Shag *. Sounds like your TW will be an ideal round-about bike. Gotta love Barkbusters.

I tend toward your area for a quick mountain fix as it's a 2hr ride vs 6 to the Adirondacks. Good for you having all that in your back yard.

Perhaps you might know if the two set-back campsites on the Willow Creek ATV access road require camping permits?

i rode year round back in central IL on a wr250x/r conversion. heated gear, layers upon layers of clothing, frosted pinlock visors, and frozen ignition/tank locks were a daily hassle in the dead of winter. unfortunately aluminum and steel just don't get along at all when salt water is present. i fell A LOT, but also learned a lot about riding in no traction conditions. moly based lubricants are great for lock tumblers once you get the water out, although i always kept a nitrile glove or some aluminum foil in my pocket to try and cover the key holes if i knew snow was coming.

my solution was to change careers and move to san diego. today, november 5, the high will be 75F.

I don't think they do, but not 100% sure. There is a lot of free camping right off RT59 on the way to the dam and the area up by Jakes Rocks by the upper resevoir on the dirt road to Warren. Always a lot of people camping there.

I used to ride all winter but now I find that with these milder winters we have more rain than snow and people run their sump pumps and pump water out along the roads. What happens is at night it freezes in the runoffs and then gets forced out onto the roads causing little patches of black ice ' They scare the shit out of me.

I ride year round. July and August, I just try not to ride between 10AM and 8PM, it's just too damn hot.
