Great Wrap Up

Dave-

Great job on the ride report. Thanks for taking the lead to get it together and posted up.

We were certainly lucky to have partnered up with you & Anthony. You guys are great dirt pilots, and very capable outdoorsman. I noticed the first night, when both you guys were already in your shorts & flip flops, had tents up, reading & drinking a cup of tea while I was still deciding where to set up my tent (Granted I spent a great deal of time calculating windage, as to stear clear of meethane, and snoring....)

My interest in the HOW route started with Docking Pilots ride reports. His crew looked like they had such a great journey, its all I could do to figure out how & when this might come together for me. Stan & I discussed it for months. Then all the stars & planets lined up where I could actually take the time off to go ride the route.

Thanks Tony Huegle for your passion, and interest to share the Great West with the rest of the world through the Heart of the West Route. This route provides opportunity for significant & memorable experiences; giving riders a historical perspective of early America that would otherwise be missed by regular auto travel. I hope many others choose to take the time to embark upon this route. No matter if its 4x4- Adventure Bike or Mountain Bike, its a an adventure of a life time. Learn more about Tony here: http://www.backcountrybyways.com/

And a little shout out to ADV. With out Advrider, I would have never met any of you.

So lets start planning next summer....

After riding the 1190R in Steamboat- Im on board with that. Keeping the 950 but the GSAdventure will be going up for sale to be replaced with the 1190R. Maybe your dealer in Aspen would do fair price on a group buy….

Doing Baja on the 1190R would be a great test. Hey Tony, can you work us up a route?

Couldn't agree more Dave! This was an incredible ride with incredible people. We got lucky with the weather, and the bikes held together well. Really looking forward to exploring more sections of this route. I can definitely see us riding parts of this ride for years to come. Thanks to all the Guys. Stan, your wealth of knowledge of pretty much every subject amazes me. Andrew, your very savvy approach to bike set up and gear preparation are second to none. Phil....well what can we say about Phil that hasn't been said already...ha! Seriously, Phil great riding skills and just a wonderful passion for everything with two wheels. Your stories about riding with your dad inspire me to get out with my pops too. And of course, Dave, what can I say. You got me in to this wonderful sport, and I have yet to meet someone so willing to share his knowledge and experience with anyone. You are quite possibly the most generous person I have ever met and look forward to riding thousands more miles with you in the future. Honorable mention of course to Questor. Thank you Edward for allowing us into your home and showing us such great hospitality. Like Dave said, waiting for you to pull up in our town with your new Earthcruiser sometime soon! Keep us Posted. Thank you also to Tony (Byways) Huegle! Your passion for these historical areas of our wonderful country really shows in the route choice and I consider myself lucky to have shared this life long passion of yours. Safe travels to all. Looking forward to the next one!

Thanks for the great ride report and pics!

Andrew, you will not regret trading that ADV1200 against a 1190R!

OK. So now we are riding Baja, Spain, Portugal......Sounds like we should be buying some Powerball tickets. If I win, I'll take you for an extended ride around Australia as well.

Well, a man's gotta have some goals ya-know....

Stan & I had a good dirt ride Saturday-I took him out riding single track for his 60th- and he proceeded school me in that tight gnarly stuff. He sure is fast by all standards especially now as an official Senior Our famous CEO of the Board of Education can ride the wheels off a thumper.
