At least my perceived success.

This time of the year I really REALLY miss living in the south.

I went out yesterday afternoon on the greenville watershed road (between SC 11 and Saluda) and then down the Saluda Grade (US176 from Saluda to Tryon)

Color were beautiful, especially as the sun went down, but I wasn't able to get my camera to cooperate as well as yours. My buddy did get this one:

Holler at me if you wanna ride sometime over this way...I PM'd you a while back but never heard back.

Yeah, my group-riding history has a few blemishes.

It's been hard for me to keep any kind of schedule lately....I just gear up and go at a moments notice, usually once I'm sick of doing chores around the house.

Yesterday was a 'chores day' but this afternoon the sun was trying to peek out between the clouds a little so I went out for a little 'local spin'.

We're past peak on the fall foliage but there's still a few nice tress around, mostly in people's yards...this one is on my street.

I guess the 'underbrush' or whatever may have been more protected from the recent frosts...so there's still some color in the woods too.

But for the most part, it's getting pretty bare and brown.

Not much happening down at the beaver pond......

But there was smoke coming out of the chimney of this cabin in the 'Living History Farm' section of Kings Mtn St Park so I decided to chip in the $2 parking fee and have a look around to what was cookin'

It was a good chance to make a pit stop anyway.

Tomorrow's Sunday dinner?

Looked like you could have or help make a Christmas wreath...

I never did figure out just exactly what they were cookin' though.

I must say that I'm more than a bit disappointed that this blacksmith shop wasn't operating today.

I actually don't know if it ever really does.

I was kinda hoping for a bit more activity but you can hardly say it was a waste of time when there was no agenda to begin with.

Since I was all legit with a paid parking pass why not ride through the rest of the fee areas?

The road down to Lake Crawford

All closed up for the season....it would have been a bit chilly for a swim anyway.

I love that old stone dam/spillway that creates the lake.

Even though the clouds rolled back in it was still a nice day for a hike along the creek below the lake.

....and riding out.

For some reason the trees at the amphitheater are just beginning to change.

Victory Garden must be fairly new as I don't remember it....not much green there though.

Alright...heading home directly though town as this will probably be the last I see of the leaves there this season and there's a few good ones still hanging on...

This yard used to have the prettiest trees in town every fall...the new owners cut them all down! At least the guy has a cool truck.
