noobs first post!

Hi all - just a quick post to to make the transition from lurker to inmate.

After a 21 year hiatus from bikes (you know the story - have bike, get married, have kids, buy house, sell bike to support the house/kids, chase promotion promotion to afford replacement of car yadda, yadda, yadda), I've gone and bought myself a bike.

I'm now the proud owner of a 2008 KTM 990 Adventure S, with a genuine 24000 km on on the clock.

Purchased from Roma (Qld) about 4 weeks ago, my maiden trip on the bike consisted of a run from Roman, to Brisbane then to Tweed Heads and finally home (mid north coast of NSW)

The trip saw me have to change two rear tubes between Roma & Brisbane (no mean feat considering the last last time I did this was 20 plus years ago), ride the bike through Brisbane and to Grafton in the rain on a near new knobby enduro tyre (the only tyre I could buy in Chinchilla to get the bike home) and at the same time time getting used to the bike, it's power and torque, and it's idiosyncrasies.

The outcome - gotta be the most fun I've had in at least 10 years. Can't wait to to really tet its legs legs on a a real trip.

Catch ya soon.

Welcome to the Forum, RoostRat.

Sounds like a great reintroduction to the bikes after such a long break.

G'Day RR

Welcome and nice to hear you're growing young again. I had a fairly good break away from dirt and bought a Kato 640 then 950. Love the 950 to death, awesome fun.

Keep safe.

G'day RR.

I'm a newbie here myself and my history is similar to yours.

LoL, I really only got back into riding after kids, kareer and kost of mortgage etc when one of the sprogs got into riding and shouted me a day's motorbike hire to go out with him on his CT110.

He knew my history and he was both cunning and generous. I owe him a debt of gratitude.

That was 10 or so years ago.

There is no mid-life crisis when you ride hard. You don't have time for one.
Cheers, Ern.

Event in progress.

RoostRat congrats on your purchase.
Seeing that you live in Port Macquarie treat yourself to half a dozen congratulatory rides of the Oxley.
It's not what we ride but why we ride.
