Holiday time. May I suggest?

My wife has written a children's book (very loosely) based on our own /2 restoration. I thought people reading this thread might be interested. I've got a thread going in the vendor area:

Now back you your regularly scheduled /2 thread..
Well,E30's are good cars and all, but I guess I'm not going to come kick you in the nuts over it.

That's such a pleasant sight to see ^ as we New Englanders are now looking out at grey skies, horizontal rain with gust to 60 mph, and leafless trees....

Happy Thanksgiving

^ yeah, it was quite a day here too. Just think how much snow it would have been if it were cold enough! Things were flying around my yard that I never thought could take flight.

Got to be on old picture, too much green in the background.

Sunny, but still a bit too cold to get mine out today in Tn.

The good thing is, your damn motor can't read. If it says oil on the container, it's pretty much OK to dump in there.... ED.

Yeah, I know you've seen it before. You wanted to see /2s right? Well here's the one I created a few years back. No useable, stock BMW parts were trashed to build this bike.

If you would like to read about the building of this bike, I have a short story at http://pokiespages.com/bmwflat.htm

That's really nice! So when people come up to you and ask "what year is it", what do you say?

If it's a motorcyclist that shows a genuine interest, I tell them I built it and that it's made of several years of parts that I amassed mostly from dumpster diving, trading, rebuilding and creating.

If it's someone that really doesn't take much interest other than "What is it?", I tell them it's a 1927.

If it's another bike builder or someone that's interested in building a bike themselves, I tell them it's a bike I call a BMW Ace. Ace because I bought a good portion of the materials and fasteners to build it from Ace Hardware.

If I were to offer it for sale, I would make sure there was no misunderstanding of what it is and how it came to be. I just like to have fun, not to mislead or cheat.

The one thing it does very well is give you the feeling of riding something old, the ride is very like that of a 1927 BMW. Yes, even a lever throttle, not a twist grip.
