the price was right and I'm waiting for the new Alltrack so if I get two years out of it, it will be worth it. It'll blow-up next week now

One positive, my closest friend has a 2004 with 80K on it and it hasn't missed a beat

I love the 3 Series Touring but prices on used and the cost of parts if something does go wrong is a worry. With the launch of the new four cylinder turbo and Tdi there may be some nice used ones in a couple of years.

'Sides, my Passat B5 is a genuine Audi underneath.

Just found this thread. I'm a wagon freak.
Some of the past rides:

2001 A6

2003 S6 (loved that one and should have never sold it)

2007 BMW.... Meh, glad to see it go.

1961 Buick LeSabre Wagon (second owner, loved that car and drove it all over. Sadly sold now).

Also have a 2012 WRX wagon, but I'll keep the photos to myself if it isn't a "real" wagon here.

Just bought a 1957 Chevy Wagon that will be my next project. Its still on the way to me.

Which '57 did you get? My wife has a '57 Bel Aire 4-door that we are slowly getting back into daily driver shape. I've been thinking of either a 2-dr (first preference) or 4-dr wagon, but definitely not looking for a Nomad.

Be sure to post up photos of it when you get it.

Love those old Pontiac and Buick wagons - shame you don't still have that one.

Its a 6 passenger Bel-Air, V8, auto. Its from CA and will be completely redone. I just wanted something mostly rust free to start with.

I had a 2 door 57 Handyman years ago, and a Sedan Delivery. I liked them when I was single and lived in CA, but now I have kids so the 4 door makes life easier. I'd love a Nomad but they are above my budget.

BTW, nice Norge. I have the "slower" silver Norge.

Thanks, I love my Norge, she just fits my style of riding perfectly. Now with the Bill Mayer seat, I think I'm good for Iron Butt distances

Since the kids are grown or have their own car, I'm looking for something I can haul stuff in. Not particularly worried about getting into the second seat, but if a 4-dr came up at a good price, I'm not that hard over on a 2-dr.

Good luck with the project. And don't forget the pics.

Nicely equipped - two sunroofs, AWD, decent cargo and a great highway car.
