Laugh Favorite Day Rides in the Low Country

I am new to riding and live in the Hilton Head area. I will be taking my msf class and getting my first bike in January. Along with the loads of research I am doing on bikes and gear I am also starting to search for (and day dream about) some of the awesome riding opportunities we have here in the Low Country. To me that means anywhere from a little north of Charleston to a little south of Savannah, Ga and not very far inland. But don't take that too seriously if you know of some good rides near that area.

I know that many a good road ride can be found by doing some research on google earth etc but what seems to be hard to find through research is the off road and mixed terrain rides. I have done research on privately owned trail systems you can pay for trail passes to ride etc and they are all more than 3 hours away..I am interested in more local rides that you dont nessesarily have to dedidicate a whole day to

Thanks for the tips!! :)

He hasn't posted on it in awhile but he's still around...might try sending him a PM. He seems to know your area quite well.

Thanks for the awesome tip, these spots are awesome! and they are mentioned enough that I can prob google my way too them.

They are all about 2 hours or so away though, which is for sure in reach.

Now I am itching to see if anyone knows any nice rides south of Beaufort and north of Savannah?

Thanks!!

Finally!

So it took a while longer to get me and the bike geared up for true exploration... But now that I have a skid plate, rad guard, hand guards and safety gear I have been getting out in the Hilton Head / Bluffton, SC area and looking for dirt.

On your way off of Hilton Head Island, directly before the bridge you take a right on jenkins island road. Immediately you will see a power line trail on either side of the road. It's not long but it is dirt, and it is on hilton head

Go left and dead it ends here

Go Right and you get to what looks like a fishing or shellfishing spot and a really old cemetery!

There are no gates or signs or any kind other than "no dumping"

(This ride was before the protection was on the bike)
