I actually remember when someone in that area poured oil on the street to stop the racing. I believe, but not sure, a fatal accident occurred.

I graduated from Francis Lewis HS on the LIE and Utopia Pkwy. I guess you would have been in the zone for Bayside or Flushing HS?

Before I drove, I used to pedal a bike to the Whitestone to fish under the bridge. At that time I lived in Flushing across the street from Queens College at Kissena and Jewel.

Getting a motorcycle in '65 changed my life.

The Clearview actually had a 1/4 mile strip marked on it. You forgot Rockaway Blvd, that was raced, too.
Funny guy, ya' old fart. I was running my RZ-350 in the mid-eighties.

Speaking of fatalities, I remember Crossbay got shut down when a cop got himself killed there on a Kawasaki Z bike.

Yeah, I forgot Rockaway Boulevard. Any others??

International Motorcycle Show

The NYMSTF needs two people to help staff our booth, on Saturday and Sunday. Staffers get free admission to the show, in addition to the pleasure of signing up riders all day. As an added bonus, you get to spend the day talking to folks all about the difficulties of riding/having a motorcycle in New York City. You know... pretty much what we do all day right here in the NYC Commuters thread!

Inquire within!

I also grew up on that area. But I am a bit younger, my biking started in he later 80's. But lived on 150th and 71st Ave. I went to 165.

Zoned for Bayside, but ended going to St.Francis Prep.

Your probably the guy I used to watch ripping up Cunningham during our early morning practices!

I tried bringing my RM250 in there once and somebody called the cops, ended up riding in the old airport on 20th ave in College Point.

With all the recent talk of legal riding areas, that one was fantastic. I was told by a friend that someone had a serious injury on a quad riding there and it was a nightmare as the ambulance couldnt get to them. After that all the gates went up.

As mentioned before, there was actually a motocross track directly across the street from St.Francis Prep (Reilly Woods). I was definitely there frequently in the mid '80's.

Pheasants in there, too. Lots of wild blackberries also.

Got a jump from AMA service. Back home.

Now to figure out why the right arm of my heated jacket isn't working.

This is like the 3rd time this has happened to you, with all the electrical mods you do to your bike I think running all your stuff off a keyed relay should be #1 on your list.

Oh, sorry for turning your lights on.

Next time shoot me a text.

Not entirely true. Private garages are required to take in and set aside space for bicycle parking.

When you find out, let me know. My right sleeve stopped working too.
