Just kicking this up again..
I'm looking for some oversize pistons, 104 or 105. Hopefully someone has a lead on them?

I'm planning to use a copper crushring and silicone, thats what my dragrace shop uses reliably.
Rc8r plant with 1190 gears sounds promising too though.. whichever I find first I guess..

I'm looking for something that is more long term. Copper works great in a drag bike, not sure I'd trust it for 100,000 mile engine build, never seen a copper set last that long. My hold up is the cost to have a die made to make nice MLS OEM quality gaskets that I would prefer.

Yeah, i have no personal experience with copper. This company tells its reliable but I doubt they have 100.000mile experience. How long have you seen them last? I'd he happy with les than half that. It's funny how a gasket shows to be more difficult than a piston!

Do you have experience regrinding cams? I think this motor could possibly bennefit even more with cams than 105mil pistons. I find no local company that does this here in holland.

Cometic will make them to order for most engines,, all they need is 1 original.. But you'll pay $$..

Back when I worked on the occasional hard metal head gasket you did not use silicone, the standard coating was Coppercoat gasket sealer.. Still available, its what I use anywhere I absolutely want the gasket to stick. Its a pain in the rear to remove without using a chemical remover, and we often had to use brass wedges to pop the head off an old tractor when it had been glued on copper coat + a copper gasket.. Don't know about miles but some of those tractors ran many many years all season long. You also need to re-torque metal gaskets after they have been warmed up a time or two..

Cheers
Dave
