things could go the other way too the cheap way. buy the braces from rockymountain atv, use my 10% discount with free shipping, where i could end up buying the wrong size and and brace, then insurance company refuses to pay it because rmatv is not a medical supply company. how many people buy pods and asterisks ending up selling them because they're not the right one.

after i had a shoulder surgery, i could just get a sling from wallgreens for less than $20, but the ortho doc had to send someone from a medical supply company to my house and fitted the sling...i bet that cost $200... pods are getting old - padding worn out and straps lost elasticity, think i need to see my ortho again and get a new prescription.

rather not and have a good knee instead......
One reason I bought the Pods was the full list of spare parts available at a reasonable cost, knee braces get thrashed dirt riding, sweat soaked, dirty, beat up.
BTO shows a rebuild kit as well as each small part available separately.

But yeah the Medical community has its way of doing things, like an army they roll one way and that's it,all under the assumption that ins is paying so damn the cost, they all want to make a good living no matter how trivial some of their required bits and pieces are. At 1 point a doc more or less insisted I take this hokey inflatable ankle brace home with me,I saw why later as they billed 175.00 for a POS that couldnt be worth 30.00 and was useless to boot. Money matters.

But if you really want to get your bowels in a uproar, follow the paper
trail of the evolution of these "medical devices" from patents to evolution
to conception to the original NIH grant. Taxpayer monies used to "better"
mankind, by making a few individuals extremely wealth on our backs.
Damn, I sound downright Marxist, and I'm a registered Republican!
