Fuel prefilters for Safari tanks

I have installed Profill pre-filters into my 990 Adv Safari tanks. These are model ACE001. The fit is good, although I little filing or trimming around the outside edge might be beneficial...occasionally the caps will pull the filters out of the tanks, so they bind very slightly, but it's not enough to bother me so far. It takes a little longer to get the last gallon in each tank, but this is a small price to pay for the potential benefits of (maybe) never having to change pump filters...
Note that since I bought mine the website states that all filters have been improved for 2014, and it is worthwhile checking with them via phone or email to see if this model is still the one recommended for 9x0 Safari tanks...they are updating and adding all the time.

As far as I know, they still have no solution that works with the standard KTM fuel caps. This only works for Safaris. For a prefilter solution for the standard tanks, contact CJ...I saw his machined adapters at the Steamboat rally - very elegant.

It all depends on what filtration they archive with the middle media

If it's higher than 5 microns you will never have to replace filter again

Did they tell you?

When I bought mine to use with a self made funnel in 2008 they did not tell me and after one year of complicated using and far too long refueling times I had to change my pump filters anyway

Mine were extremely small version, I am sure the bigger ones are much faster due to increased volume which allows the foam to be pushed aside by fresh petrol through the media-less upper strata

Can you check how high is the middle media compared to the whe length of the filter??

Nice design the ring fixation, same than splitstream but I think they work better

They have doubled the size but also increased the price

In 2008 payed 15 each now is 30

Well they are right in increasing prices if the product works better and is bigger than in the past ;););)

CJ Design fuel caps are very elegant and very functional but I think also a bit pricey.I've got a lot of respect for Craig (and a few products from him I'am very happy with) but over $400 for two caps with fuel filters and breather valves is something I simply couldn't spend

not much help, sorry

I did not find much on the website about micron sizes and I don't know what you mean by middle media. ..the Mk3 filters are 200% larger than the old ones. I am not too concerned about the prefilters filtering ALL the contaminents anyway...assuming I keep my bike to, say 100000 miles and I have to change pump filters twice instead of four times in that time period, they are already well worth it. Apparently they will trap water too...it will eventually permeate but if you shake out the filters at the time the water goes in you will get rid of most of it. I guess I will be checking my filters more...especially at some of the smaller country gas stations, or when there is a fuel tanker filling the tanks, stirring up sediment.

Profile filters have a double mesh as structure and a middle media ( media is the material doing the real filtration in the branch is it's name) is doing the real filtration, a special media secret to their filter which I do not wish to reveal, I do believe in property of info and technology and respect secrets and knowledge

I was just curios since I was obsessed about my filter capacity and had the university of Wroclaw test it for me at the department of alternate fuel development to make sure :)

I am sure they are worth e money and you will avoid the sudden death sindrome, were a stupid fill up stops all of some floating junk coming from the pump or has station deposit.

Crisps ;) ;););)
