Let's face it. Many people along the Dakar route will have a shot at making money out of it. I don't think I would hesitate to give these people a reasonable sum of cash to get my bike back from the sticks.

My guess is PAU's incident is not unlike what happened to Ari Vatanen when his Peugeot was stolen in Dakar 1988.

The sheer force of shiny sponsored vehicles thundering past less financially endowed populations will sooner or later wake up opportunism along the route.

It would not surprise me if Team Ullevålseter get approached by these people later on - an quite frankly I wouldn't mind paying them off myself - if the sum and circumstances mandate it.

PAU's race is over, but let's wait and see if the team receives a phone call or other contact in a short while. These folks don't have much time to make an offer. In two weeks Team Ullevålseter might have left South America after having supported Arredondo through his race

From David's team:

"DR's bike exhaust burnt a hole in reserve water tank.
Freedom Rally Racing has improved the KTM Factory issue and branded it accordingly.
Thus DR now riding with a FRR improved KTM Factory Water Tank"

Ari vatanen's "stolen victory"?

Haha F650 Dakar Norway... you been watching one too many british videos from 1988... You bought that lot?

bedouin bandits do not return stolen rally vehicles to the bivouac in Agadez only minutes before the due start time... complete with serviced transmission and engine knocks that mysteriously "vanish" overnight...

Some of Jean Todt's finest work...

Hehe. That's clever thinking. I only have seen on Ari Vatanen's own webpage that his car was stolen - without taking into account other "smart" solutions

But as they say - "zis iz Razing". Doh!

I think the other people playing games on Coma and Cyril trying to make them look slow and change people's minds and their psychology...

Let's see were these are in a couple of days
