... the XR is the greatest off road motorcycle ever constructed. There's nothing it can't do, hasn't won or will not outperform.

Question

Hey Digga,

Re: your extra large Safari tanks....can you show some photo's of mounting points and fuel petcock location??

I've managed to get a pair but they came with no mounts/and the left one has no petcock.
Are the tanks joined by a cross line?

Do you recon Safari tanks likely to have mounts?

cheers

mate , the tanks are a fair ole commitment
you need to build an entire new pipe and mounts, mod the right hand radiator, build a bash plate, install a fuel pump, modify the oil return tube, relocate the overflow bottle, nothing too hard, just time consuming..
are you going on a long ride?

I stuck with the semi-synth GPS.. Was gonna try the Belray but it's same price.
Too hot for riding down here for the next week or so..

Thanks for the info mate, yes plan on longish rides when finished, lusted after one of these bikes for years, nows the time to make reality, more practical than 950 for true adving (ie within a budget) but KTM good for carting other 1/2.

will probably look at lowering link, just scored CRF forks, saw in USA XR650R thread that ol mate may have custom tripples to suit XR/CRF forks/Scotts Damper, so be doing that too, be some heavy springs to take weight.... (but the list just grew a hell of a lot longer...)

be some what unique too,
Thanks again, will be into it as soon as get garage space sorted.
....any more photo's of your set up??
How many of these units were produced?
Have you seen any other setups with same tank??

Roger that, I'll give them a couple of weeks to get back and place an order.

Currently use a peice of perspex/ Lexan bolted above the headlight, doesn't do much for the wind.

Have a hard time holding on after an hr or two at 130kph, hoping this tall fairing may ease that a little bit..
