Pyndon's post was spot on describing the dangers of heat!.

Who's hiding that like button around here

It is Ned. Keeping Ms. Dirty up on all of the latest news and all I keep getting is eye rolls from over on the other side of the desk.

It's taken me a few years to get this Dakar thing figured out but I'm getting there.

Is it really that much more of a bear this year than previous?

Ullevalseters bike is now retrieved and back in bivouac.
ICO's, CAP-repeater etc. seem OK.

Only front fairing missing. Probably souvenir on somebodys wall over there.

Hey guys, I am here in Salta with some friends. Hoping to find a spot to see the bikes and quads tomorrow as they head to Uyuni. I cannot find any clear information as to when they will be leaving. Does anyone have a source for clear information about the route and departure time.

Again, thanks to all you Dakar vets chiming in with your takes. You increase the Dakar experience so much.

Bikes leave bivi at 0430 local time. Do you need maps or gps cords to spectator spots?

We are sitting here on the plaza trying to decide if there will be somewhere we can see the bikes race or if we should stay and find a good spot to see the trucks tomorrow.

Wow, I realize Chaleco fell 5M!! Damn, he's lucky, I'm glad it wasn't worse.

Salta is one of my favorite cities in Argentina and one of the more geologically spectacular parts of the country no less.

The city is considered by many to be a mini Buenos Aires in the north.

The surrounding area is dotted with small pueblos in a spectacular setting.

But in a few hours that is all going to change.

I can be at the bivi at 4:00am no problem. Just not sure where to go to get ahead and see the bikes go by. Or a good stop for the trucks if that is not possible. Thanks again for the help.
