I am luck so far. At least every material can crack by vibration. I wouldn't be so nervous about that!

I queried the touratech bash plate weight on the Australian site and they answered back that it weighs 4.24 kilos... Not that it makes that much of a difference so low on the 1190, but I am concerned in adding more weight to an already heavy bike...

How heavy are the other bash plates available, the original ktm one for example?

I have fully tested the KTM plate on the Arizona rocks 2 up with bags adn will tell you wholeheartedly that it will take some abuse and protect the bike! It integrates really well with the crash guards and goes way back to protect the exhaust underneath.

Sorry, small joke. It's Orange Blaze plasti-dip, several coats. Came out pretty well. Not a perfect match, but close enough for me for now. I may get it powdercoated orange later.

So, I opted for the Slavens skid plate and the instructions call for leaving the factory plastic skid plate in place.................anyone else installed a Slavens and know why? Is it necessary for the install? Do any other aftermarket plates leave the factory plate in place?

I went with the Black Dog Cycle Works skid plate. a very rugged design and easy to remove for service, four bolts. The skid plate moves the kick stand from the engine to the frame as a part of the design. I put mine to the test the first ride out and was very glad I had it. Not the least expensive option but worth every penny

I just got my AltRider skid plate delivered, hoping to install it this weekend. This thing is beefy as all hell, looks very good. I'll take pictures along the way and post something up.

I don't know what it is with TT and over long, badly positioned bolts on their kit. I have the TT crash bars and had to replace pretty well every bolt because they were poking out right next to the tank, just waiting to turn a minor off into a major pita. I'm still not happy with it, the nyloc nuts look like they'll do the same thing, and just make a bigger hole

+1. Wondering about kickstand relocation and then mounting lowered footpegs. My understanding is that the stand already interferes with pegs lowered significantly. Wonder if the BDCW skid would help or hurt that situation?
