Installed the Rally pegs from KTM.

Looks like a solid upgrade for the price.

Installed a Kaoko Cruise Control from Touratech...maybe the single greatest trinket I have added! Beautiful little piece, works with the stock handguards, no more tired throttle hand!

...ordered a copper oil drain washer (and several spares) because I lost the original doing an oil change. Thought perhaps it would be ok with just the bolt for a few days if I didn't ride. Not so much. About 2 quarts of fresh oil snuck past the both and onto the garage floor. Cock!

Had the stock battery die on me this morning after just 1.5 years. No warning, bike ran great Saturday, went to start it today and nothing...at all. No crank, no lights, nada.

Got it replaced with an EarthX Lithium, hope this lasts longer. Although now I'm thinking I should add a voltmeter and replace the RR just in case...

I like mine too, except the 1st weekend I had them installed my pant leg caught on the peg as I tried to put my foot down and I dropped the bike. Felt like an idiot but learned my lesson. They do make a huge difference while standing though.

That sucks. Sounds like a different type of failure than would be caused by the RR or caught by a voltmeter. The voltmeter might be good insurance, but I think most RRs on the 990/950 last pretty well.

I just finally replaced my stock battery (7 years), I put in a motobatt. I think they're good quality for the price, and from what I can glean from the internet, as reliable as anything out there. Yuasas are good when they're good, but I've had some duds (like yours) before too.

My 2006 eats batteries like snacks. I usually go through another one every year or two. I have had the bike since 2008. I am on my 4th battery now and the one in the bike is now junk (flat and won't take a charge anymore) so I will be buying a 5th one shortly.

Had one fail while riding down the highway at 60mph. Bike just lost power and I had to call for help. Luckily I was only about 2 miles from a friends house with a trailer at the time. Dropped in another battery and I was off again.

Sounds like you may have a regulator problem......have you looked at the charging circuit at all?

Yep, I feel better after our talk yesterday. I will get a voltmeter installed, but you're right I don't think it would have helped in this case.

Yikes, that does not sound good. But mine is looking very similar so far. Maybe I'll put check things out with a multimeter while installing the voltmeter just to make sure.

I only get about 2 years max out of a battery in my 2007 990.
Arizona summertime heat cooks everything.

...oh, and I haven't done anything to my 990 for weeks except walk past it in the garage.

I worked on my bike last summer with new filter kit for tank and fuel pump http://advrider.com/forums/showthrea...8#post23237008 ,I advice this kit for your KTM 990 (and tank kit also for 950).
It works great in my opinion.
