I'm really glad it wasn't pilot error. I REALLY like this guy from a personal point of view.

I'm not convinced. Did the tail of his bike just fall off by itself? What about the smashed up tower and torn road book?

If so, it is a pretty farcical parade to have 3 top drivers nose to tailing it for two and a half whole stages?

The sooner Peugeot come in and shake up the MINI camp the better in my opinion - it is dull dull dull...

The hierachy at Peugeot/Citröen have orchestrated more "formation finish/team order drives" in the history of rallying (both WRC and Rally raid) than Barreda has bitten Atacama sand in the last fortnight.

FFS Jean Todt invented the formation finish premise as far as DAKAR goes way back in 1988... At Citröen (under the same regime) Pierre Lartigues fantastic Dakar career is as much due to his fantastic strategic driving talent, as is his ability to follow the orders of Le Generale Rouge.

If you think that Peugeot is coming with a laisses faire "may the best man win" approach to managing a DAKAR campaign... then that makes Piglet an exotic dansios...

KRIS NISSEN at VW, Dominique Serieys, and Ullrich bremer before him at Mitsubishi RalliArt as well as the aforementioned Todt/Frequelin & Co. at Peugeot/Citröen have ALL at one time or another given similar oders. At that level the EXPECT them to be followed.

It was said 30+ pages ago, that he had a problem with the fork that causes the damage on the steering head. with a look at that worn wires It should be true. But he had some hard falls also, otherwise the heck wouldn't be that destroyed.

But the first issue could be mechanical after all and then he got snowballed.

\Heresay and conjecture yah'ahhna:

RB stopped responding to switch, manual advance, too tight on the lead size, paper rips, try to fix on the fly, miss a !.......

Possible. Likely? I'd like to think so.

Yeah, still looks to me like "smashed up tower caused chafed wiring" (you can see the tower wobbling around in the close up of the wiring).

Chafed wiring caused cutout at inopportune moment leading to massive crash is also plausible, but, you know, Occam's Razor and all that...

From what've seen it looks like he had and endo with busted the tail, nav tower and possibly the steering stem.
When nav tower was smashed it ripped cables witch either shorted the bike or drained the battery (he was jump-starting it from the car).
I never assumed it wasn't a riders error, only that may be mitigating circumstances.

Easy one .

The cover fell off the RB holder. He was riding very fast , so this resulted in the paper to get torn.
The tail was an added bonus. They actually have a button that you press and the tail is released so that it falls on somebodywho is behind you. You distract him and he crashes. Rumour has it that this is what happened with Jeremias (no car in the scene, remember? )
The broken tower is indeed a mechanical failure (but it happened after an accident you could add ). Still a mechanical failure though.
The clear screen is broken. A mechanical failure. Cables are cut... Well... I have not been in the bivvy, but mice are known to eat cables.... may be they need some cats there
