Those Hondas sure seem to lose the rear fender a lot.

trick is to change the numers 18 in 19
so you can see them before they posted in the website, but uploade first.

What happend happend, he want to fix it, took much parts of his bike go go underneath or use some parts, but did not want to put all together and loose more time so he left the skidplate and and ride on.

Others took his parts in the car?

Well well well, look how that Bouncy Bort brought out all that eloquence in all of you... Face it, drama, desperation and conspiracy is the F5uel of this thread...

Managed to catch up, ready for tomorrow...

Nani or Peter?

Pain or CD?

Who could ask for a better epilogue than this?

Goodnight all...

Pretty good video covering the 2014 KTM 450 rally bike and a lot of the changes over 2013. "KTM has had to up their game due to serious competition from Honda" and also the difference between Africa and South America and the terrain and how the bikes are generally trending closer to enduro bikes rather than the larger historical Dakar bikes... pretty interesting..

It's a long shot and there's only one person I'd trust who could pull that needle out of the Antifagasto sand. Cyril Despres.
If my simple-minded calculations are correct, depending on the ave speed of the stage, Despres would have to increase his ave speed ove Pain a relatively small amount to claim third.

In other words:
If Pain has an ave stage speed of 60km/hr then it will take 153 minutes to complete the stage
If Despres has an ave stage speed of 61.6km/hr then it will take 149 minutes to complete the stage.

Then again, I could be completely wrong?

And if the pace is faster, for example if Pain averages 120km/hr, then Despres needs to average 126.6km/hr.

Does that seem doable? Seems like it from my couch...

Picking up 14 minutes is more problematic: Depres needs anywhere from 6km/hr to 27km/hr depending on average stage speed.

Then again, I could be completely wrong?

Go Mike!!

BTW, Mike is an inmate here and in addition to a pile of CRF's he also owns a 640Adv AND a KLR! The KLR (and his insistence that it's a quality bike) always cracks me up, especially when coming from a guy that has such an impressive race resume.

I've seen on some of the old vids there were talking 200 to 210kph on those big twins. Gaston said 200kph a time or two.

Side note: My Aprilia RXV550 when I put a smaller rear sprocket on it did 125mph/210kph indicated on the GPS, but that was geared too high, just an experiment. Back to lower "trail" OEM gearing the 550 would easily do 110mph/177mph and that was mostly stock with a hot map on it.
