Going to go look at a IT400 to buy.

Going to go look at a IT400 to buy.

Any thing I should be looking out for?

Anyone ridden one, How did you like it?

Pros and Cons of the bike?

Thanks

I've ridden a couple of them... my opinion, mixed with owning an IT250 of the same era

-old school ergonomics/feel
-some people hate that version of the mono shock (Race Tech can rebuild it nicely with proper valving). i don't mind it terribly if it's a stock rebuild... better than dual shocks, i think.
-forks are mucho mushy (race tech has gold valve emulators for them)
-gobs of torque

overall i think they're very fun trail bikes that can be beat ruthlessly and not skip a beat... and they move pretty well for what they are. compared to other offerings of the era, they're not bad at all.

oh- pros and cons?

pro:
cheap, reliable, not slow, shares parts with YZ of same and/or previous years (depends on the part)... parts aren't hard to find

cons:
dear god that color, a bit heavy, terrible brakes (all jap bikes of that era it seems), weak electrics, did i mention that color?

Look for cracked expansion chamber at mount points/seams. Look for frame cracking on lower frame just in front/below of footpegs. They vibrate like crazy. Not the best stock suspension for that torquey engine/ frame combo. The stock pipe is made of tinfoil and breaks welds every time you ride....best to replace it.Just poor to average brakes even for that era. They will pull a wheelie forever.
