I enjoy looking and riding these older bikes as they are so damn simple, reliable, decent performance and affordable.I cant say that for the newer stuff plus they are just so simple its like a work of art to look at at least for me it is.

There's no doubt a level of simplicity; but that's why we love these older bikes. They burp, they hiccup, they sometimes have ignition problems, but ill take that any day over a new dohc 4&5 valve four stroke. These bikes have charachter, almost soul-like. When I get on my old aircoolers, it puts a smile on my face. They're much more than a machine, they're an old friend. Give me that any day!

taking my barn fresh 1983 it490 out for a spin today. it definitely needs some things, but how do you pass on a 1 owner all original bike for $650 that starts first kick

i replaced cables and cleaned tank and carb and it seems to run fine. first day with no snow and decent temps (40 degrees) that i can get it out and run it for real..

Vinduros

Hey Guys, have any of you ever participated in a Vinduro race? I'm thinking about starting up around here in PA. We've got some nice hare scramble tracks and a really cool vintage Euro-style mx track they race at. I've never raced my 81 Maico 490 or my 83 IT 490. I think it would be really cool to start participating in them. Only thing I'm not sure of is if I need to join AMA. I'm not sure if they are a sanctioned event or if its just a big group of guys just plunkin' around. Its Vintage (pre-'74) and Post-Vintage ('75-'90). Anybody have any input? Thanks

not sure what series you are talking about.. there's quite a few ahrma regional cc and mx races in pa, and the turnouts are usually really good and a lot of fun. i know of no ama vintage races in pa..
