I never would have guessed the open class/production/customer/stock/non factory/whatever-ya-call-it HONDA bike would be down on power.

Bummer.

Pretty wild out there.

At 2:33pm local time we have Marquez with a cushion of 0.4s, after a lap set about 1:50pm, and then mainly on laps set much earlier (when I dare say it was cooler and grippier), we see:

Pedrosa next, but only 0.003s ahead of Bradl.

Rossi fourth, plus 0.125 from Bradl. Great, huh?

But then, Aleix Espargaro, less than a tenth behind Rossi.

Is last year's M1 with a spec ECU and a richer fuel map better than this year's with bespoke electronics????

And only half a tenth behind Espargaro, we have Smith by a whisker from Lorenzo.

And then Lorenzo is only a quarter second quicker than Iannone on the Duc.

And Iannone is two tenths better than Pol Espargaro on the satellite Yam.

Oh, and Hayden has got the Honda up to 14th, a quarter sec better than Edwards.

All sorts of things going on in the background, no doubt. But I can't seem to remember a test this mixed up.

Glad to see that Iannone is healthy now. Hopefully he doesn't hurt himself this year and is closer to the front.

It's just a test.

For example: as much as I'd like to see Rossi up his game for this year, this is just one track, and also one track, where he's always been good at (..ok, not on the turnip truck, but anyway!)

Oh, and it's only a laptime. Doing 25-30 fast laps will get you championship points, and as we know, that is a bit different from doing one fast lap.

I do enjoy following them on track today a lot, but just to keep things in perspective.

don't get me wrong - I also wanna get carried away by these results

..and I won't be surprised at all, if the three Spaniards top this test, and then occupy the podium after the race as well. So it might give SOME indication afterall.

What's up with Lorenzo? Burnt out?

Can't be a happy ex-champ.

Jorge may have simply been testing different settings/parts/etc. Remember, this is a test, not qualifying, lots of work to do for the engineers, tire techs, etc.
or he's just slow!

I'd say he's TESTING. Just one small mistake, or someone in the way when you're going for the fast lap, and it's gone. It'd be interesting to see a full breakdown of all laps run, it could be a little more revealing.
I don't think he'd be too upset......

ok. Don't read too much to it.

But I'm sure Jorge will still want to beat his teammate, before they pack up.
