What horrible news! My wife and I saw the scene up at La Kiva on our way to and from the park yesterday and were hoping it wasn't something this serious.

I didn't know Glenn, but it appears that he was a super nice guy on the "Remembering Glenn Felts" video- http://www.permianbasin360.com/news-...8kmwFvJHwKojUg

Very sad news. No telling what the outcome will be. with all the different types who go thru that area. And the "characters" who reside in the area.

The accused is pleading self-defense...

Quote:
The trial of Tony Michael Flint in the death of La Kiva Bar owner Glenn Felts began this week at the Hudspeth County courthouse. In opening statements, defense attorneys conceded that Flint had killed Felts, but said that Flint had acted in self-defense and would testify in the trial.

A former river guide, Flint is charged with first-degree murder in the Feb. 4, 2014, beating death of Felts, a well-loved figure in South Brewster County whose bar was an anchor of the Terlingua community. If convicted, Flint could face a punishment of five to 99 years or life in prison.

Hope someone with the same special "spirit" resurrects it. As anyone who has traveled there knows Terlingua requires something extra. Especially a place like the La Kiva.

It sure seems like he was guilty of something. At least manslaughter.

Being drunk is no excuse for beating someone to death.

I hope he at least takes his ass back to Missouri, or wherever the hell he's from. He can beat people to death & make up stories there.

Not sure what was presented in court but there are many factors that go into a court case. The self defense plea is very subjective to the verdict. The change of venue went in favor of the defendant. That eliminated many who would have been close to the parties involved from serving on the jury. MY greatest concerns in the case were the inconsistencies told by the defendant thru the process. Why did he move the body? Talk about the cause of the argument has been vague. Did the victim have a previous history of violence when drinking? What did the autopsy show in the nature of wounds and injuries to the victim? Initially it was said that someone had put the boots to him while he was on the ground. That is not self defense to me....Being drunk is not a defense to prosecution Unless there was more to the self-defense than what I have read, to me would have been manslaughter
