Question Tijuana, nicer areas downtown?

A buddy and I will be visiting Tijuana on a Thursday evening while staying in San Diego... without bikes.

We will like to find the nice side of Tijuana on foot or a short cab ride away from the border. Good bars, restaurants, nothing freaky (those places are easy to find ) We don’t have too much time to figure things out so I thought asking fellow inmates will save us some wrong turns.

We are fluent in Spanish.

Any place you can recommend or area we should stay away from?

Cheers!

Sorry about the smartass reply but Tijuana is one of the most dangerous cities in the world. Be very careful.

Been there before. As you said, it behooves us to keep our wits about ourselves, much like in many other interesting places... hence the gathering of intel from the Collective.

Any local spots worth recommending

Walk across border, hop in Taxi, have him take you to Independence / El Centro ... it'll cost you $5 or so bucks ... if you want something else, zona rosa.

That being said, sadly, it really is a shithole and you'll have a better time in Tecate, Mexicalli, Rosarito or Ensenada ... though all are further and require driving across the border.

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice psychohawk.

We walked in from the border, found the decent areas and the fun ones. The place is just like like many others cities (or big pueblos) in Mejico.
Good people, good fun, food and drink.

Cheers!

Let me get this straight, you will be in San Diego and just for shits and giggles want to spend the evening in Tijuana? And you have been there already................

Talk about wanting to trade in nice moto for an old mule.........even if it is for one ride.

I was gonna say,and hes already gone there anyway,San Diego has many, many nice places. Tijuana is a mess,I guess going there would be for the sake of saying you went there?
