This year's flyer, hot off the press:

http://oaklandmotorcycleclub.camp9.o...tiron_2014.pdf

It'll be my first year if I'm so fortunate to gain an entry. Throwbacks, my vintage motorcycle club out of the Grass Valley, CA area, will be making this event its off-road debut... Previously we've been known for our flair for vintage choppers, so this should be quite interesting.

Hey TT,

You guys riding vintage bikes? Been thinking about trying the SI with an old Triumph ('73 Tiger) ... give me some motivation if you guys will be on old bikes ... either way, the SI is fun!

see you in Stonyford,

I'm on a 1978 yamaha xs650, another is on a 1972 honda xl250 motosport. I'll have to run a triumph next year, the Yamaha was just ready to go without much work.

Well, there you go!

At the SI vintage bikes get a ton of positive attention in the sea of KTM orange ... people will love seeing your XS and the old XL ...

I've been wanting to find a 500cc OIF but had the idea recently to simply use the 750 ... like you say, ready to go without much work ...

My friend Kalle has a '48 Chief ... maybe I can talk him into trying it this year ...

The Triumph is a streetbike, so I'd have to keep an eye on the weather ...

see you around the campfire,

John,
I've never heard of an OIF 500, I thought only the 650s had oil frames...

I too am waiting for the right t100 project to come along. Those bikes are sooooo much fun!

All you need are a good pair of tires and perhaps a skid plate and high pipe. That's all that went into the "off-road" models for decades! Oh, and maybe some beefy air filters...

Here's a little ride report on a "break in" ride by a friend from last weekend. Seriously my first foray into this awesome world of enduro riding:

Yes, I just meant an early '70s single-carb 500 ...

Are your "Throwback Thursdays" every Thursday, or once a month? I usually get up that way in September, for sure, for the NorCal TT ...

see you in the rodeo grounds,
