The 'white blazes' painted along the trail that crossed atop the mountain lead me to believe that was the AT and the state line.......

The road that lay ahead of me...

.....and the way from which I had come....

It wasn't in too bad of shape but didn't look like it had received any maintenance over the winter either.

Not the most confidence inspiring.

It was a dead end too....kind of a risky photo op...I hope y'all are happy!

You get 3 guesses who's neighborhood I'm in now.

Hint: They have extremely vicious guard dogs!

Hint no. 2: They have more old barns on their street than I have in this entire thread!

It sounded like there would be a sizable ADV crew meeting in Asheville at the Wedge later and I still had 2 or 3 hours to kill....

I began just aimlessly wandering back roads and quickly found myself in Weaverville where I realized that I had squandered a good opportunity to ride Big Laurel across to Hot Springs.

But decided that I did still have time to blast over to HS on the 25/70 and still loop back into AVL on the 209/63.

...but I hadn't counted on waiting on another train.

Looking back in an attempt to salvage the low light conditions on 209.....

63 has a few turns of it's own.

Made it back to town to find a band playing for a bunch of St. Patricks Day bicyclists. The had a big ride finish at the Wedge.

Of course there were a bunch of silly motorized cyclists there too.

It was great to see the crew out enjoying the weather yesterday!! I should have snapped a few people pics

Have you ever come across it in your travels?

"this" is actually a road he is not supposed to talk about

The southern side has a private road sign (placed confusing on purpose), and crosses private property with an easement. The northern side is a bit more "official"

Hi Cuttle-we met and had a few beers at Joe's place a couple years back at the Wha Da Hala rally....hope your well.
So the dates we are riding around that area will be May 16-18 if anyone wants to give us a tour of the said "road".
Thanks, BOIKE

Hi Boike!

I'd love to give you a tour (it's just a few miles up the road from me), but I am quiet busy with the RDV at this weekend:

Rick's Eastern Rendezvous - you should come too!
